I dont care who starts in the 1-4 spots but EO needs to start at the 5. Now is when he has the chance to build some confidence. If we are going to have a successful season we need EO to be able to contribute and not put the weight of the world on Halls shoulders. We need the depth in the middle and EO needs a leash a little longer than he has had in the past. The time is over for EO being a practice player to give Stutz or anyone else some competition. Give him the benefit of the doubt and let him play.

So, with Lufile out and EO starting next to Hall, who backs up EO?

Start hall and EO. Sub EO out and move hall to 5 and put white or cle at 4

When EO is out, Hall plays the 5 and Early slides to PF. When both EO and Hall are out (should happen very rarely), I think maybe Jake White and/or Early play the undersized center role.

This is where I disagree. If you start EO and Hall together, that's 4 shared minutes, 8 of the 80 for the PF and center. Same thing to start the second half with 64 minutes remaining. Its possible that Hall could play 20 more and EO could play 15 more. Hall plays 17 minutes at center and 11 at PF (all with EO at center and 8 of those at the start of each half). In this instance they start together, but virtually never share the court again. Also a huge problem if either picks up 2 fouls in the first half. Basically you are requiring 48 minutes per game from the two, which I think is too many. White could make due at center against SIU and Evansville I suppose, but I think we're better off if EO plays 20 off the bench.

If the injuries linger, they may allow Lufile an opportunity for an injury redshirt.

He'd have to be granted a sixth year of eligibility. He played at Chipola in 2009-10 and then redshirted at Vincennes in 2010-11 before finishing up at Coffeyville last season.

Lufile was at 3 jucos so perhaps he has used his redshirt.

Don't really care whether EO starts as long as he gets AT LEAST 20 minutes.

Play the hell out of him between now and Cancun (exception made for the VCU roadie as needed). We can overcome his shortcomings against those creampuffs and early playing time is going to be huge for his development- we need him to at least be effective, if not good, by January if we're going to contend for a league title.

Run him out there against these weak sisters and keep him on the floor til he fouls out.

If correct (and don't get me wrong as I am not questioning you) then that is fantastic news on one front. It means Early has picked up the 4 and is worthy of starting ahead of Jake who has been fantastic all summer and fall.

If Early is ahead of Jake......lol on 4th place.

Who among us penciled Wessel in the opening day starting lineup at any point in, say, I don't know, the previous 24 months or so?

Marshall will pick his other three starters from a group that includes Baker, Williams, center Ehimen Orukpe, forward Cleanthony Early, forward Jake White and forward Evan Wessel.

Ding ding! Winner winner chicken dinner (if non-official "official" rumor lineup is correct).

I didn't see Early picking up the 4 this ... early.

Sounds like Wessel beat out Wiggins and Early beat out White. Not sure if Baker got the job outright or if injuries thrust him ahead of Williams and Cotton. Either way, I will eat some early crow for thinking that Baker and Wessel would be # 11 and 12 in the rotation.
