  • Depending on where he goes, of course, but one little shooting slump and he could see more pine than he wants. Good luck to him though. I won't lose any sleep over this.

    • My money is currently locked into the homerun donation pledge for softball.

That and I somehow came home with a new puppy a week ago and that wasn't cheap.

That's interesting to me. I was going to comment that he never seemed very happy on the court to me. I don't know Colby at all, but I always saw him represent himself and WSU in a positive manner.

I wish the young man well and hope he finds success and happiness wherever he ends up.

That makes 3 open schollys, no? And an even bigger need for makers than the need we were saddled with previously.

Yeah, I think you’re right on those not wanting to contribute to NIL. I think there’s a lot of that within the fanbase in general.

And I totally get it, but like I’ve said in another thread here, I think, - at some point I don’t care what these kids are spending their money on wether it be drugs and tattoos or charitable donations, I want the Shockers to win and will contribute everything I can to achieve that goal. Not saying everybody or anybody has to see it like that and I think their opinions are totally valid. But if the majority of the fanbase feels that way we might as well join the OVC or Horizon league and call it a day competing at the level appropriate for our NIL. And I think a lot of the people who are anti-NIL are the same who want WSU to play at the very highest level. Something has to give, and I don’t think NIL is going anywhere at the highest level.

            • For Colby, this will be his fourth team and his six years of college. Seems like the dude needs a paycheck after all these years. I will just pretend he was a senior, and we move on.

I will say that asking 5000 people for $500 while also asking for SASO donations could be tough. Instead, why don’t they ask 500 businesses for $5000 and create a Digital marketing billboard outside of the arena where they can all share time during the season being on the billboard.

              • 1. K State’s Cam Carter to the portal.

                2. Maybe one person can give WSU $2.5MM.

                3. As I finish taxes, contributions to Wheat Shock Collective are tax deductible…correct?

I did. It wasn't until today because I already had it earmarked for tomorrow's payday. Have had a lot of unforseen expenses lately (cancer scare with daughter (ended up benign) medical bills, car wreck, my own health stuff). But always planned to give by tomorrow regardless. Just pulled it one day sooner. I am sure I can survive until tomorrow lol.

                    • Can a person donate a significant sum and specify a certain player or recruit he/she wants it directed to or it can be withdrawn?

                          • If college athletics is coming to the riches fan bases win the most, count me out. WSU is never going to win in an arm's race unless the big donors step up. Dick and Tom aren't going to carry the load for NIL.

I appreciate that. Luckily things are looking up. Just a rough couple of months. But this too shall pass!

I mostly based that on the tenor of his quotes in the Eagle, which never struck me as him being unhappy, only dissatisfied with losing and trying to keep a positive attitude.
