Lmao, there was literally national headlines on Marshall. Do a simple google search if you can manage that. It was extremely clear that some sort of drastic action had to be taken. It was also extremely difficult because they were all highlighting how brown should be the one hired (mistake). Just helping you out in case you have memory loss from having your head stuck up Marshalls ass.

So far in the only two games against teams with pulses, we have been outscored by 55 points combined.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Also of note.. in year 1 and 2 with WSU Marshall had 7 "quality" regular season wins (A or B games via Kenpom). Mills has had 4 of those his entire career so far.

Year 2: 17-17
Year 3: 25-10
Then the fun really started: Average record in years 4 through 10 (2016-17 last year in the MVC) was 29.7-6.1 (208-43).
The 3 seasons in the AAC his teams were 25-8, 22-15 and 23-8.
Most wins since Marshall was Browns final season when the Shocks went 17-15. Surely this year's teams will beat that and will beat Marshall's 2nd year, especially considering the state of MBB in the AAC, but with 9 seniors on this year's team it is very hard to see anything but a step backwards next year.
But there is more to it than just wins and losses. The entire culture and environment around collegiate basketball has changed and not for the better. That is doubly true for Wichita State basketball with everything that has transpired post John Bardo and the chances of regaining what we had pre-Jay Golden seems like a real long shot.Last edited by 1972Shocker; 22 hours ago.

You must be one of those crybabies that Gregg didn’t pay any attention to or that parked in his parking space. Anyway, there’s no debate… it’s arithmetic.
I loved having Marshall, but I’m not so blind in loyalty to recognize his pitfalls.
also I can’t believe you just resorted to calling me a crybaby
whatever - let’s not let this turn us into monsters. The facts of the matter is that neither of us are happy with the state of the program, and I’ll not be bothered to argue the past for too long.
Hopefully in a couple years time we’ll have enough cash freed up + the donors are back online to get the program a coach that’s going to do us good.

I'm going to just say it. While I appreciated the burst of fire we saw from Mills last game, he isn't the guy to get it done. He just isn't. I think his ceiling is probably an NIT bid. I don't think we go back to the NCAAs under his leadership. To be frank, I think any coach is going to struggle to get us to the big dance with the new college landscape.

I do not see Mills as the guy. I just see him as the valet parking the car, keeping the engine warm until we can afford to hire the right guy. IB was stuffing a rag in the gas tank when he was fired. Over half of the money we need is tied up in contracts iirc. Once we aren’t paying Marshall and IB we can afford to go all in on a real coach and it won’t be that difficult to launch us back into the top 50 where we belong.People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do. -Isaac Asimov
