I know it would likely never happen, but I would love to see ALL colleges tell coaches to pound sand with these ridiculous buyout clauses. It should at most be the equivalent of one year of the contract, and honestly less than that. But these clauses are part of system now, kind of like how Clark Griswold was depending on his bonus. I would also rather see contracts with a much lower base amount, and then very lucrative performance bonuses.

We all saw the Monmouth game. That looked almost worse than the 90's...
Give me an effing break. And we looked great against Drake in the play-in game that year. What a joke.Deuces Valley.
... No really, deuces.

Dismiss is probably not the right word but somehow, someway, Acy should take over the rest of this season. PM could make a public statement that for the good of the team and the program new leadership is needed NOW and he is going to allow Acy to drive the bus. Let him collect his salary but let Acy run the show. If Acy turns the ship around both PM and Acy could claim much of the credit.......kind of like Memphis.

Mills is most likely going to get this + next season. If ADKS is going to make a move, will most likely be in Spring/Summer 2026.
The next coaching hire is going to make or break this program. Another Brown and Mills and you might as well lump us in with ECU in terms of a program. Heck, we're already closer to ECU than Memphis as a program with where things stand now.

Cohen, Thompson and Smithson deserved 3rd years but Brown didn't. Only a troglodyte would think that was a smart move while not considering the serious ramifications of a misstep. Do you comprehend, cave dweller? Oh, wait...

Look, no matter which side of the argument you are on, the fact that there even is an argument about whether Brown or Mills was better should tell you all there is to say. We should have kept Brown for one more year simply because it would have been cheaper to fire him then.
We got completely outcoached and outplayed last night by a team from the Summit League that I guarantee you has an NIL budget of money found in the laundry and a pack of corndogs. Living here, I can tell you that hardly anyone in Kansas City cares about UKC basketball. And we did it at home in front of a stadium that was less than half full.
Is Brown coaching anywhere now? No. Is Gregg Marshall coaching anywhere now? Also no. But both of them are willing to sit back and take what WSU is paying them because of a series of bad decisions on the school's part.
The only question now is what can we do from here. I have no idea. If I dropped $1 million into the NIL budget right now I'd have no faith that Mills can attract a good roster with it, and much less faith that Mills could then coach that roster. The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Your path might work too (see Drake), but I'd rather us think big and try to go after the money with a very targeted goal vs right now it just feels like its "hey give us money and we might do something good with it"
