I do agree that at the end of the season Mills needs to come out publicly, own up to this failure of a season, promise us this isn't acceptable and that he will be doing absolutely everything in his power to turn it around. And then we need to see that happen in terms of recruiting/portal....etc. As well as more than a few players hitting the portal.

I also agree he won't be doing that. So we definitely need to see action (players hitting the portal while we hit the portal hard).

If it is just status quo....then I will be officially worried.

We all would like to see and hear transparency but I'm not counting on it. I would wager we'll see more of the same during the off-season...crickets from PM and defensive posturing from KS, preaching the virtues of patience, building it the right way, and more comparisons to GM and MT.

If he throws himself under the bus, his words will be used to pummel him and more reason to call for his head.

Sark had the history of being a successful D1 head coach at Washington and USC before he drank that away. When not a D1 head coach, he was an assistant under Norm Chow, Pete Carroll, and Nick Saban. While at Alabama, he coached Mac Jones and Tua. Sark also had huge NIL money to lure in some good players.

In other words, Sark had the resume to calm some nerves and the resources to do something about year one and bring in some talent that would fill any coaching holes that he had.

Mills has the resume of a few good years based on a few players who should not have been in the Summit League. He was also third or fourth fiddle on a Baylor team.

I certainly hope you are right and Mills pulls a Sark, but that seems pretty optimistic.

Don't misunderstand me. I don't know if Mills can pull it off. So far I'm impressed with some of the player development, but not the team development. But I'm not to the point of calling for his head. It takes time. IB had 3 years of consistent downhill production. Mills has one bad year so far. Will he consistently raise the level over the next 2 years? I have no idea, but I'll give him the benefit of the doubt right now. In reality he is ours for better or worse, for richer or poorer, for at least 2 more years.
