Paul Mills Not Hot Seat

I had always assumed that if we were going to make the move last year instead of this year, we would only do it if we had a home run hire lined up. That wasn't the case.

If I remember right, by firing him last year we owed him 100% of the rest of the contract (3 years). After this season it would have been 50% of the remaining (so realistically a net 1 year). I still say moving on from HCIB was the right move. It's very TBD if the move after that was the right one

I agree 100%. I don't recall anyone being jazzed when we didn't announce a new coach within days of Brown being shown the door, and even less jazzed when Mills was announced as the guy.

This was after rumors of DeVries saying "not enough money." After rumors of Turgeon saying "no thanks." Who knows if those rumors are true.

Regardless, we all knew we were in for a rebuild. Don't think anyone though that the first step would be taking it all below ground level.

He's got 3 years. That's when Marshall, Brown, and Wedge are off the payroll. If things aren't drastically improved by then he's three and out

I think that depends on the standard someone holds for Shockernet. SN used to be known as a group of fans that really knew basketball. Lately we look like Phog.net in that regard.

If he at least has some support from the fanbase, he may succeed

If he doesn't, he won't. 0% chance.


The coaching decisions today were not good. No argument from me there. But there has been some good coaching this season without a doubt. And having a thread talking about a new coach being on "the hot seat" 6ish months in is effing ridiculous. Shocker fans are better than that

Posts on Shockernet have zero impact on the program. I agree he needs support. That's financial and attendance support. I don't think the people complaining on here are the ones that will stop donating or going. The causal fan... Which is not your shockernet audience... Will absolutely stop going and donating when there is an embarrassing product on the court.

As has been stated in this thread, nobody is advocating that Mills goes now. But this topic is about taking the rose colored glasses off and having a real discussion about how this team is not even meeting the minimal expectations we had for this season. We are all hoping for improvement. But this team is bad, bad.

Some of these fans thinks this a video game or something. They have no concept for reality or rationale and expect to be fed like they were in the 2010s.
