Not ideal. But getting out of the "perpetually paying 3 coaches" cycle may be worth it for one year.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

NET wise, we're currently the middle of the AAC team at 164.

While I don't think we're going to get better with Mills going forward, I do think a number of other teams will improve. There are quite a few first and second year coaches in the conference that have actually looked to make progress and could definitely continue to do so.

FADDB set this Titanic in motion, and ADKS hasn't done anything to stop it.
FADDB certainly deserves his share of the blame, but he was more of an accomplice/henchman that the general. From what I understand the Captain of the Titanic was Jay Golden, whose role is ignored far too much.

it's really impossible to say who's gonna be better and who's gonna be worse year to year. Look at FAU now, any team can have full roster turnover from one year to the next.

We could write a check for what we owe 3G and IB today if you want to get that off the books. However, it does not add 1 penny to the balance sheet. The assets go down by the amount of those payments and the liabilities are reduced by the same amount. The net assets are unchanged. The critical thing is to run annual surpluses moving forward. We ran a deficit, exlcuding severance pay, in FY23 of $1.1 million. In FY 24 we ran a surplus of around $870k on that basis thanks to a $4.6 million increase in donations. We finished FY24 with net assets $1.4 million. A buyout of HCPM more than wipes that out. Who knows how were doing in FY25 (ends on June 30th). Hopefully, those big donations are continuing.

Let's say we generate a surplus of $1 million in FY25 (far from a sure thing). That would increase the WSU-ICAA net assets to $2.4 million. At the end of FY25 Paul Mills buyout is $4.3 million. The buyout drops to $2.65 million at the end of June 26.

A buyout at the end of FY25 is not totally out of the question but clearly requires big donor contributions to make that happen. And that is on top of the additional $7 million per year ADKS says he needs beginning next year.

Given that the AAC is ranked 9th or 10th as a conference, that's not saying much.

The search process was anything but smart. It speaks for itself. Surely it couldn't get worse than Cohen/Thompson as a result of such stupidity?

I don’t get it. Where’s Mills? He should be right there in the top 3, right? Right, everybody?

Do they do a bottom 15?

                      • Also, I answered my own question and pulled up the worst conference seasons over the past 40 years...

3 way tie for first (worst) place at 4-14 (95-96, 2000-2001, and 2007-2008). There is a very real chance that there will be a 3 way tie for 2nd after this season. Ugh! I hope I'm wrong.

We could throw it all on a credit card and then claim it was stolen.

                            What does USG% mean?

In NCAA basketball, Usage Percentage (USG%) measures the percentage of team plays a player uses while on the court, considering shot attempts, free throw attempts, and turnovers.

For centers, a high USG% typically falls into these ranges:
                            • Elite (30% and above) – This level is reserved for dominant post players who are the primary offensive focus (e.g., Zach Edey, Luka Garza).
                            • High (25-30%) – Very involved in the offense, often a first or second scoring option.
                            • Average for a starting center (18-25%) – Contributing significantly but not the primary focus.
                            • Low (<18%) – More of a defensive or rebounding presence than a go-to scorer.
Mills has a once in a career center on his team. The guy all coaches dream of. This is ... well ... underuse abuse.
