He can't recall a single rock music event attended at the Arena this year.

Who is in charge of the arena and getting events scheduled? Promoters? Arena personnel?
I will admit that country generally does better at IBA and there's going to be a lot of that. Below is a list of musical acts in 2023, working backwards.

    Pentatonix
    Trans-Siberian Orchestra
    Lauren Daigle
    Zach Bryan
    Thomas Rhett
    Snoop Dogg
    Parker McCollum
    Chris Stapleton
    Walker Hayes
    Koe Wetzel
    Kane Brown
    Journey
    Kenny Chesney
Winter Jam (Christian concert with numerous genres involved)

Very country dominated this past year and I believe I saw something the other day that they may have had their best Q3 ever.

    2022

    Reba
    TSO
    Hillsong UNITED + Chris Tomlin
    Jason Aldean
    Alabama
    Keith Urban
    Backstreet Boys
West Fest Featuring Ice Cube and Cypress Hill
    Morgan Wallen
    Dierks Bentley
James Taylor & His All-Star Band
    Brooks & Dunn
    Shinedown
    Korn
    Slipknot
    Winter Jam

    2021 (COVID Impacted)

    Toby Keith
    TobyMac

    2020 (COVID Impacted)

    Blake Shelton
    KISS
    Korn and Breaking Benjamin
    Jason Aldean
    Winter Jam
    George Strait

    2019

    TSO
    The Chainsmokers
    Miranda Lambert
    Guns N' Roses
    Godsmack
    Carrie Underwood
    Chris Stapleton
    Alan Jackson
    Cardi B
    Kenny Chesney
    Chris Tomlin
    Shinedown
    Metallica
    Kelly Clarkson
    Dierks Bentley
    Winter Jam
    Luke Combs

    2018

    Lindsey Stirling
    Cole Swindell & Dustin Lynch
Breaking Benjamin & Five Finger Death Punch
    Lynyrd Skynyrd
    311 and The Offspring
    Sugarland
    Imagine Dragons
    Journey and Def Leppard
James Taylor & His All-Star Band
OUTCRY Tour (Christian tour like Winter Jam)
    Winter Jam
    P!nk
    Avenged Sevenfold

I could keep going but I was curious what it looked like. It would appear to me that they're going to generally be dominated by country concerts, but they do mix in a little of everything. Not sure if something has changed in who is in charge this past year or if there were fewer rock concerts going that could have been brought in or what.

2024 as of right now has

    Cody Johnson
    Winter Jam
    Blake Shelton
    Turnpike Troubadours
Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
    RIP Guy Always A Shocker
Carpenter Place - A blessing to many young girls/women
ICT S.O.S - Great local cause fighting against human trafficking
Wartick Insurance Agency - Saved me money with more coverage.
Save Shocker Sports - A rallying cry

Better yet, leave the wife and kids at home, go to the Groin and Loin, get a pro, and hit the Marriott. At least I get some entertainment when I get robbed by the hooker instead of getting robbed at the door by the Intrust promoter.
Yeah. We made plans late this morning (after I checked for tix) for all of Saturday (and much of Sunday). No matter what the price, we aren't going now. Swing and a miss.

That’s kinda what happened to me. At one point a couple months ago, I figured that I should go ahead and get a couple of $15 tickets for my son and I to go. Shortly after that, I saw that most of the upper deck was closed with almost no price adjustment. So I just conceded that I would not be able to go. My wife and I made some other plans for tomorrow night. So when IBA/WSU/whomever decided to adjust prices a week out, that’s too late in my book. I already have plans.

        • Hitting the Chuck at 1 for volleyball.

Probably a linner somewhere prior to Intrust. Has anyone been to Lotte yet?

And I'm tired, so hopefully home and asleep by 10.

          Go Shocks.

It’s pretty mind boggling that they couldn’t even get people in the door for $15 tickets so what do they do? Get rid of the $15 tickets. lol you can’t make this stuff up.

I was able to get two $15 tickets Wednesday night. Granted, those were limited to the back few rows of the end sections, and there weren't many left..

                • At least parking should be simple.

                  • Reservation at B&C for 4:30. Shocker BB at 6:00.
Looking forward to it. I guess everyone in the arena will have to cheer extra loud and often so it will seem like a home game.

                    • Talked to someone at WSU who wishes to remain anonymous but apparently the 'promoter" seems to be the main source of much of our ire. They were the ones that chose the opponent this year and they were the ones that failed to inform WSU there would be a $4dollar surcharge per ticket after WSU made the ticket pricing release. For the last 10 years WSU has done the bulk of the heavy lifting in putting the game together it was this year that a promoter was selected to "take care of things" Epic Fail

Who selected, approved, and/or, hired the promoter? Sounds like it was not a selection made by WSU as the promoter certainly was not informing WSU of things in a timely manner. Is the promoter, Intrust, and/or WSU on the hook monetarily? Assume there are guarantees to SDSU. How about WSU?

                          Epic Fail indeed.

                          • I don't understand the fascination with all the middle men. I realize I have a bias as a small business guy type thinker, but we've let this kind of thinking get completely out of hand.

I kind of understand limiting exposure in some instances, but promoting a game? How much exposure could you have? I think it's more about people finding ways to do less. Like with so many other things, the pendulum has swung too far in the other direction.

For instance, why does WSU use a travel agency? That's a completely unneeded middle man that does not have our best interest at heart. They have THEIR best interest at heart and that means making money. You can be professional AND efficient. It is possible to do 2 things at once. Just paying someone else to do your job because someone else does it shouldn't be the bar.

I'm not saying any of it is easy....but anything worth doing rarely is. I get the hours for athletics aren't just 9-5....but there's a better way...especially when we're paying the bills.

                            • Day of the event, arena is maybe 20% full .. probably 40% of the lower bowl full ... and the cheapest seats are 30 bucks .. which is only a handful at the top of one of the end courts.

To get anything that isn't a corner or end court ... ITS SEVENTY FIVE DOLLARS ... before fees... per person ....

Family of four wanting to sit on the sides, not even center court, but just not in the corner or end is 386 dollars with fees if they order online today .. nearly 100 bucks a person by the time the fees are tacked on.

Freaking insane for this game, with this low of attendance the day of the game. They should be tossing day of BOGO or family four packs all week this week. SOMETHING to try to increase attendance.

                              • I'm guessing lines at the ticket office prior to the game won't be long at all. Save your money for dinner or snacks.
