I'd say this is a down year for the conference overall (middle class is quite weak) but the top-end teams are definitely very solid. I still do really wish the AAC could poach a team like VCU from the A-10 though.

VCU has a better chance. Georgetown has lukewarmly advocated for VCU in the past, while Xavier would adamantly try to block Dayton. That isn't to say that VCU has a good chance overall of joining the BE, simply comparing them to Dayton.

Somewhat related…watching Fox’s coverage of Illinois-Michigan and it is remarkable how much better the major networks (Fox, CBS, NBC) do with broadcasting sporting events than ESPN/ABC. Everything is so much more professional and so much more crisp.

From a non-athletic standpoint VCU does not fit the profile of a BE school. I know, UConn is there, but that was a legacy thing more than anything.
