Has nothing to do with the men's game, which is higher quality than it ever has been and features more talented players than it ever has.

The talent isn't the greatest ever and the quality is not even close to the quality of the 70s through about 2015.
The difference is that the greats used to stick to a team at least 3 years which gave them time to groom their games to a higher level. The fact that players stuck around longer, made team play and chemistry that much better as well.
I equate today's D1 game to 80s and 90s juco ball, where there are no great seniors or juniors.
