  • Very hard to read too much into this considering the limited and selective brief video clips and the fact, that the level of competition did not seem great and the Greeks didn't exactly seem to be busting their butts. But it was good to get a gander at the guys who, as others have pointed out, seemed engaged and enthusiastic. One of the biggest benefits of this trip is perhaps the team bonding opportunities it creates. Too bad Jacob was unable to make it.

All things considered I was somewhat encouraged by what I saw. You could definitely see the influence of HCPM on the spacing of the guys on the floor. Without a full box score it is impossible to see how efficient they guys were on offense but good to see 76 points and balanced scoring.

Perhaps the team from Calgary will provide a bit more of a challenge although the Shocks were only up by 2 at the half before pulling away vs the Greeks.

    • I know it's one clip but seeing all 5 players touch the ball in one set was a thing of beauty

Nice clip. Even if it's just a clip. Certainly in no hurry to bring the ball up the floor. No defensive pressure. But nice movement. Inside out, no over dribbling. Take the open shot in rhythm

            • The Greeks got behind, but they like it from behind.

              • One more comment and possible request. Can anyone find a single instance of any possession over the last 2 or 3 years where there wasn't an overabundance of dribbling, where the ball went inside to a collapsing defense, and was promptly kicked back out, and then passed around like a hot potato, never touching the floor, only to find an open jumper from the 3 ball line, that not only did it not air ball, or clang off the side of the back board or someone's head, but it swished clean and free of the rim. Buehler?

has to be a step in the right direction.

Well, from what we have heard, one of HCPM's mentors was Coach Norman Dale.

From the initiation of the first pass until the shot was taken was about 6 seconds. So not just 5 players touching the ball but also absolutely no stickiness. Must be that slicker FIBA ball they are using. Not only ball movement, but quick ball movement although it didn't seemed hurried or forced.

And that smooth and confidant looking 3 pointer came off the hands of a freshman whose readiness to contribute this year was very uncertain.

Oh Joy! Hopefully, not a blind squirrel finding an acorn event.

Of the newcomers I think I was most impressed with Joy and Harland. Very limited sample size but Harland looks to have pretty decent handles for a 6-6 player and a good feel for the game (BBIQ).

Looks like RD3 is allowed to play in these games.

Disappointed that Bijan, due to his own lack of diligence, and Jacob, due to unforeseen family issues, aren't on the trip. Not even sure Bijan has even been able to practice with the team yet which matters a lot since our biggest ?'s are at the point guard position.

                        • GoShockers.com game report: Shockers Win First Exhibition Game in Greece

Rogers scored a team-high 16 points behind three triples, while Bell added 15 points, highlighted by a posterizing slam just before the halftime buzzer sounded. Ballard dominated down low, throwing down a variety of monster dunks and ally-oops to finish with 14 points.

All 12 Shockers that suited up saw action and 10 of the 12 scored in the contest.

Wichita State had to shake off some rust in the first quarter after falling behind 13-4 right out of the gate. A Rogers floater at the end of the period cut the gap to three and spearheaded a 6-0 run into the second to give the Shockers their first lead, 21-18.

The two teams traded baskets the remainder of the quarter until Bell threw down a vicious one-handed dunk just before the buzzer to put Wichita State up, 38-36, at halftime.

Jalen Ricks scored the opening bucket of the second half, and seemingly ignited a dominant third quarter. A 10-2 run behind a Kenny Pohto offensive rebound putback, Ballard dunk and back-to-back three-pointers from Joy Ighovodja and Isaac Abidde gave the Shockers a 50-40 lead.

Rogers would heat up scoring nine of the final 11 points of the quarter to send Wichita State into the final 10 minutes holding a 63-45 lead.

Wichita State upped its lead to as many as 20 in the final frame on a Ronnie DeGray III layup in the final minutes.

                            • Who was the first to suggest KP at the 4 ? The only real promising thing I get from today is that maybe QB will be healthy this season and be a force on the glass and D

All five actually touched the ball in that sequence. And that sequence only lasted 8 seconds Sorry just saw an almost identical post above.
