Eck is a valid topic concerning Turners past. Nobody has said that Turner is a bad guy, only that some feel having Eck in your past is a red flag and a reason to be cautious. Some younger posters don't know why Eck is a red flag and they've been educated. I really don't see anything wrong with the discussion.

If no one ever questioned something done or said by a coach/player/AD, what a dull board this would be. I, for one, trust HCGM's decision and reasons to hire Turner. Nevertheless, when the hire was posted and I read about him, I was not as excited as past hires and the "Eck connection" was not the only reason.

@wu_shizzle:, just for fun, would you please list the numerous, up-and-coming assistants we had our choice to pick from. I'd like to have better knowledge of what KT is the cream of the crop of. After all, the better the field of choices, the bigger the wow factor. You do have this info to make that statement do you not?

I stood next to a friend of mine that played for another City League while Eck tried to convince him to come to South.

And as far as @WuDrWu: goes, when you find one of his 10,000 posts that has a single part of it that is untrue, point it out. It will be a waste of your time. So yes, if he says it, you can count on it being true.

I agree with @ShockTalk that discussing any coaching hire is fair game. While I know 3G is not infallible he has yet to give me much reason to question his judgement when it comes to putting together a staff and a team. So for now I will rely on that.

3G will definitely set the tone for how things are done on his watch. Again so far I have no reason to question 3G's ethical standards. In fact, I was a little surprised and pleased when he refused to bring any players that he had recruited for Winthrop with him when he took the WSU job, especially considering he did not exactly have a fully stocked player pantry when he arrived.

Not sure how tuned in 3G is to Steve Eck's somewhat questionable rep with Shocker fans, but you would think ADES or others have been around long enough to know that the association with Steve Eck would at least raise some eyebrows among Shocker fans, if not some ire. Hopefully, all the concerns will prove to be a tempest in a teapot and Coach Turner will be a great addition.

Coach Gross seemed to have a high opinion of KT and he has been around the block few times himself.

Without any real facts to the contrary Coach Turner's actions or inactions while associated with Steve Eck I simply have to put my trust in 3G and give Coach Turner the benefit of the doubt.

I don't think anyone here doesn't trust 3G, just a little cautious with anything associated with Eck. Some think Eck is a saint and others know better. I hope turner learned a lot about what not to do during his time with Eck.
