    • Pohto could hit 3's at Sunrise and played almost exclusively on the perimeter at Sunrise. He won the 3-point shooting contest at his first Shocker Madness. He was every bit as open in games this year as he was at that Shocker Madness. Perhaps he was suffering from the same shooting woes that affected so many other Shox, but magically disappeared when they went to other schools.

Dennis' shooting got worse every year here. It soared when he left. Midtgaard had the #1 FG% in D1 after he left. There are too many examples (Shox had A LOT of trfr's) for the shooting improvements to be coincidental. Something in the way Marshall and IB coached or practiced caused shooters to either lose confidence or spend so much time on other areas that their shooting suffered.

Pohto is developing an inside game. He needs to be stronger and his vertical rivals the verts that Stutz had. He's done well on putbacks of misses. If he can continue developing better inside moves and shots and recover his outside shooting, he can clear driving lanes and seriously strain opposing teams defenses.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.

Based on the latest rule update, yes he would have to sit out

Unfortunately, cannot make out what this 6'5" guard does? Started the season playing fairly regular minutes (just under 20), then very irregular minutes until the last 11 games where he averaged around 18-20 minutes. His high point game was 6, averaged around 4, was 1-12 from 3, 16-30 from 2,12 assists, 13 TOs and 27 PFs.

I just don't think it's a major priority considering Colby Rogers and JPJ are already on the roster and capable of starting. Ignoring them and focusing only on Jalen Ricks is a bit of strawman argument, no?

I'd be happy with Caleb Grill but I'd hope the coaching staff focuses on other positions before looking to upgrade at SG (for a one year rental no less).

            • I'd like to see Pohto come out of the portal. There are signs (that I may be misreading) that lean that way. He showed up at PM's presser and he's working out with current players not in the portal. I've seen pics of that. Word is that he and Abidde are tight.

It's common iwth coaching changes for players to hit the portal once the announcement is made. That didn't happen. It's been a week since PM met individually with the players and no players have entered the portqal since then.

The players in the portal other than Walton (Flanagan and Scott) don't seem to be significant losses. I'm thinking Pohto is coming back. If he does, then the worst case would put XB at PG. He was showing the ability to penetrate late in the year.

The rest of the primary players would be Pierre, Rogers, and Abidde. That's not inspiring, but it assumes that PM either can't recruit any needed players or he's intentionally holding some scholarships open for when he has more time to recruit. Neither situation would thrill me, but I could live with that as the worst case scenario.

                • I for one want Pohto back. For all his deficiencies, he still has a high ceiling. I’m not sure what he’s looking for in the portal, but I can’t see P5 schools drooling over him at this point. Those schools are looking for difference makers. He could be one by going down a level, but he will maximize playing time and personal growth exactly where he is.

I'm not sure if you wanted Ally Khalifa (a lot of people did) from Charlotte or not. He has nothing on Kenny Pohto. They both will have two year of eligibility. They both are similar heights and weight. They both are similar athletes (not great). Kenny is 6'11 and Khalifa 6;10, and we would probably not lose, but we wouldn't win either. 6'11 guys don't grow on trees, and I'd take both of them because of that, unless Mills can get a better (shot blocking, higher scoring athlete.

Khalifa averaged 11.0 points, 6.5 Rebounds and 2.7 Assists
Kenny averaged 9.0, 6.0, and 2 and if you take the final 18 games after Christmas (when the team improved) Kenny averaged 11.0, 7.0, and 2.

                    • Some 7’5” guy from Western Kentucky entered the portal. Mills did wonders with Vanover and this guy seems way better than him.

                      • Dannis Jenkins, a 6-3 PG from Iona entered the portal this morning. Might be worth a look.
