Let's just enjoy the ride with FVV whereever that will take him and us. It is not really fair to Fred at this stage in his career to set him up with what may prove to be unrealistic expectations . I think FVV is going to do very well as a Shocker and I am looking forward to watching his development. If he proves to be the next coming of Larry Bird we will have plenty of time to enjoy that and sing Fred's praises.

The thing that most freshman usually are successful in proving is that the jump from high shcool ball to D-1 ball is indeed a bar set pretty high. Fred may prove to be the exception to that rulle, but a prudent approach would be to expect that will also be the case with him.

I doubt that most WSU fans read ShockerNet and Shocker players probably ignore the site or laugh at our foolish comments. You don't need to worry about "unrealistic expectations" because comments here carry no weight.
Some posts are not visible to me. :peaceful:
Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Saw DoubleJayAlum over on MVC forums today call Early "GodCleanthonyGod". Doesn't he
post here on Shockernet ocassionally? There's a place for him on ShockerNet. He probably read "GodFredGod" here and got off on it.

"GodFredGod" and "GodcleanthonyGod" come from "GodShawGod." GodShawGod from SIU. is the Valley's most over-hyped recruit. GodShawGod was a play on GodShamGod…a real person. BTW, GodShawGod turned out to be pretty good as a junior and senior, but the hype was so over the top that he couldn't live up to it.

DJA is pretty reasonable her, but on MVCFans, he's pretty much the ammunition vendor for the anti-all-things-WSU crowd out there.

Don't forget GodRonGod. WSU/WSU fans expect good things from him too.

Certainly Matt was overhyped, but don't downplay his career too much. He started the last 15 games his freshman year when SIU won the Valley, he was on the All Conference Freshman team, and lost to OklaSt in the round of 32. His 2nd year they returned to the dance, won the Valley tourney and he was All Tourney in St. Louis. Junior year, won the Valley, lost in the finals in St. Louis, lost to #1 KU in the Sweet 16. Started 82 games in a row. Actually his senior season was the most disappointing. SIU was 18-15, losing in the NIT 2nd round.

Dude was over hyped, but he was pretty damned good. 6 career NCAA games for any player in the Valley is pretty darned good. Considering he started all of them, even better.

Uhhhh, if FVV gives us all of that I will be dancing in the street. That would be an AMAZING run for us!

I agree he was pretty darn good. He was strong as an ox and a terrific free throw shooter.

                        • To answer someone's assumption that I'm a relative of Fred's...YOU WIN! Fred is my cousin. I'm also an Indiana State grad and know the Valley and your team well. While you can assume that I'm saying this because I'm related to him, you couldn't be more wrong. I've always been extremely objective when it comes to watching him play because I even went to a rival high school and sure I wanted Fred to play well but I also wanted my school to win...and I had been graduated for 15 years by then. I'm not sure how many of you have had the chance to watch him play against "top tier" recruits but he absolutely torched these kids going to big time schools and willed his high school team which lacked any kind of discernable talent, to the state's final 4. He is that good. He may not start right away but he will in the end no matter what Pac-10 legend you have ahead of him. Oh and while I hope he plays well for you guys, I still want to see my Sycamores win! lol...looking forward to another fun season in the Valley

I more or less agree with this post. Fred is the real deal and I couldn't be more excited to have him! It is a great luxury not to HAVE to start Fred this year.
