Couldn't roster movement be someone coming back, or an addition? Doesn't have to mean someone is leaving.

Lets be clear, I have been an IB apologist, mostly because I give him a lot of credit (probably too much) for 2021 and because he seems like a great person. But Ricky leaving on top of Dex and Mo is really a disaster for him. There is not any other way to put it. Glad Porter seems to be staying, but if RC leaves - its hard to call the offseason anything but a disaster.

I actually like the class so far, but man.
This is probably fair. I think our staff has done a decent job with the transfer market overall, but losing so many returners, specifically starters, is troubling. Losing Council would be devastating as he was set to be our marquee player.

Look, it's tough to be recruiting kids, let alone re-recruiting your roster every day. But he's the one paid to do it. Hopefully Ricky is staying and it's just the Etienne news.

      • C4 would be the only one to leave that would upset me.

Still waiting for a new addition that moves the needle.

It's going to be interesting to see how it all plays out.

            • Yep, News outlets picked up Tyson as well. Declaring for the draft and hiring an agent. Best of luck!

What is that now, with walk-on's, 9 leaving?

              • And unfortunately Tyson, that’s the only thing you’ll be doing.. is entering it. Good luck overseas or whatever job lies after your playing career.

ummm 8 i think? We had 13 players including walk ons this year .. down to 4 "for sure" coming back + Ricky. Might be 9 by the end of the week.

                    • Tyson is smart enough to know he's not getting drafted right? He really would have been better off transferring somewhere he might be able to develop a bit more and have some discipline and accountability. He'll get a shot overseas or maybe in whatever the D League is now called.

                      • Good for him, and good luck. He could have easily decided he wanted to play elsewhere after everything the team went through during his time here. Finished his college career as a Shocker, used NIL opportunities to support the community, and was overall a good ambassador for our university.

                        • Ricky averaged about 25 minutes a game, but was not often a starter. Heard him indicate that he didn't like that role either. In my opinion, RC not starting contributed to some of our slow starts in games and I didn't like it either.. If Ricky returns and we finish getting some solid recruits, the Shocks could still be decent. Ricky made a huge difference in several of our wins. Otherwise, time will tell. There's oodles of good players still available out there no matter what happens, but I really see potential, improvement, and leadership in Ricky.

Yeah, I think he is. I imagine his goal is to get on with a summer league team, which I would not be surprised to see happen. Might not make a roster, but could likely make a G League roster or go overseas, like you mentioned. Unfortunately, he does have some limitations (height, quickness, defense) that might give teams pause before they consider how this past season has gone.

In other words, I didn't expect his announcement would include, "I am forgoing my senior year of eligibility to go straight overseas and play," even if that's a little more realistic.

But he's been a great ambassador for the university and the program, and carried himself well, even if last season didn't go as we and he had hoped. Godspeed, young man. We wish you the best.

                            • Tyson can play G League if he understands that he's just a catch and shoot player. Last year was a disaster in so many ways and I hope he learned from it.
