But seriously. He has to have blackmailed someone. It's the only thing that makes sense.
Not defending DB or President Muma but wasn’t this extension done before everything was shutdown for Covid?

October 2020. Right in the heart of COVID. Inexcusable.

I'm surprised there's not a law that requires some form of transparency on a contract extension

Ok, but wasn’t this before they restricted attendance? I honestly don’t remember when they made the decision. I don’t like Boatright and don’t know much about President Muma other than he is gay.

What if DB was promised an extraordinary raise if he fired HC3GM?

Maybe we could pool money together and fly a plane over campus with a Fire Boatright sign, kind of like the Chiefs did when Pioli was the general manager.

A president with a spine could have.

They university would have taken a PR hit for about half a month, announcers would have brought it up during games for a season, and the world would have moved on.

This university has been a disaster since Bardo died. It’s laughable and embarrassing.

It’s times like this I wish WSU was still private and didn’t have to deal with a KBOR that could give two f**ks about WSU or their success.

Add “and Muma”, and I’ll Venmo you.

I'm leaning towards there was an incentive for taking care of the marshall situation... Looks like money and and guaranteed job.

                    • Hopefully something shady did happen and both van be fired for cause. It certainly seems to be adding up:

                      - Potential quid pro quo deal of “I’ll fire Marshall in exchange for more $$$ and years”
                      - Trying to hide the extension out of public eye.
                      - Using COVID as an excuse.
                      - Giving a raise to one employee while the AD and University were bleeding elsewhere.

Something STINKS. Might be time to call that STL law firm again and start another investigation .

I believe this staff pretty much all think alike which is why we see the same things repeated over and over regardless of how often those things have failed.
                        .
I would focus on recruiting. Ideas are not going to win games, but talent might.

I believe this team has the talent but lacks the size, discipline and chemistry that is needed to win vs top 100 teams. But our guys are athletic and have the ability.

                          • It's kind of hard to say just where this year's team comes up short in comparison to last year's team. Some believe it's who we lost. Top 3 were Gilbert, Wade, and PBC.

As much as we criticize Pleasant, he's probably more help than PBC was last year.

If you look stat-wise at Gilbert and Porter, I'd give it to Porter. CP's FG% is 60 points higher, 3pt is 80 points higher, and FT 60 points higher. While playing 4+ mpg less so far, CP assists are .8 less, but his TOs are also less by .55, and CP has the better A/TO ratio. They are a push on steals, CP has 1.4 more rebounds per game, and there's no comparison on blocked shots with CP at 20 and AG at 2 for the year.

Wade has experience over Pohto, but not necessarily stats. Wade played double the minutes that Pohto is getting, yet KP is only .8 points per game less (6.7/5.9). Wade is slightly more than double CP in rebounds, but much of that comes from MPG. Shooting (TW/KP): FG% .403/.492 -- 3pt% .311/.300 -- FT% .552/.677. I believe KP will also improve on his shooting %s. Wade was much better in A/TO, not that KP is bad (probably average or better), but Wade had a very unusual 2/1 for a 4. KP has the same number of steals in half the minutes played while having 9 blocks to TW's 15, but in half the minutes.

Didn't look that close at our returning players, but I know TE is not shooting as well as last year, especially from 3.

Last year, we were winning the close ones, this year we're not. Some of that comes from relying more on inexperience, but most of it on a lack of having to make more adjustments (and quicker) than we did last year. That's on the coaches.

I don't think it's hard to read between the lines and figure out what's going on.

Boatright knew about Marshall's behavior when it happened. He knew about hitting Shaq, he knew about the parking lot incident, he knew about everything else. How could he not?

This stealth contract business tells me he raised those incidents to a higher power. It's pretty obvious Marshall had way more sway where it mattered with both WSU and the boosters than Boatright did. Boatright couldn't do anything about any of that stuff without the support of a whole lot of other people. Someone up high told Boatright to bury it.

When the Marshall stuff comes to light and Marshall's getting trashed in the media (around October 2020), WSU can't fire him "for cause" because WSU knew about it the whole time. So they had to settle with Marshall and pay for him to go away.

Boatright knows where those bodies are buried and who at WSU told him to bury things. Boatright gets a contract extension to keep his mouth shut.

                              • One thing that could happen will be that DB may consider looking for exit.
