Originally posted by SHOXAAC View PostI am struggling to find who is a good bet to stay. Here it goes...
Stay:
Porter: Became more confident as the season progressed shooting from distance. Good ball skills. Can go get his own shot when needed. Only player with a 2:1 A-TO ratio. High BBIQ. Our leading shot blocker at 28 (from a 6-2 PG...go figure). Another uptick in progress next season and he is a solid AAC point guard.
Grant: Where is he going to go? Good ball skills. Learned he can't get a shot in the paint at this level. Can get his own shot when needed. Average defender. Average BBIQ. Had just below a 2:1 A-TO ratio. Needs to improve his shooting all around.
Pleasant: Oh God say it aint so. Like Grant, where is he going to go? Has D-2 talent...enough said...swing and miss.
Pohto: I am begging him to stay. Mo will not be around...at least he better not. If he bulks up some, can become a good stretch 5. He needs more toughness however. Good shooting touch although needs to develop some post game.
That is all I feel decent about staying folks.
Leaving:
Udeze: Please don't come back. He is a good FT shooter. All else is a liability...can't consistently score around the rim...turnover machine...can't pass...unwilling to improve. Bye Mo.
Etienne: He has all but said he is leaving. Such a sad story all around. Total regression from last season. Enough said.
Dennis: He has run his course. Congrats on winning AAC DPOY. Good BBIQ, but can't handle the ball or shoot. I wish him success.
Council: I am not confident either way, but on the post game yesterday didn't sound positive. I have mixed feelings. By far our best offensive player. His one-handed YMCA moves drove me nuts. He did at times hunt his shot like ETN. Good rebounder. Below average defender and BBIQ.
Jackson: His body language the last half of the season screamed "checked out." Outstanding motor,. Excellent rebounder. Ok defender. Below average BBIQ. I noticed several times in the last several games during timeouts he was far away from hearing what was discussed...wait...was anything discussed? Just sayin.
Jenkins: Just don't get a good vibe from Chaunce. Doesn't seem engaged. His play was non-encouraging.
Just my take. Let the fun begin...

And I agree there is always room for a Dennis/Cotton/etc. Not everyone is going to be a consistent scoring threat. His intangibles are hard to replace.
But I also, unfortunately, think it is likely both move on. Hope I am wrong."He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

I'd say this to CP, RC and KP. Look at what happened to Yesufu being a star
at Drake and a bench warmer at KU. Think twice and choose carefully if you
decide to transfer.....the grass is not always greener. You are established
players here with a fan base solidly behind you. We are going to be a much
better team next year and you guys are the nucleus.Last edited by asiseeit; March 12, 2022, 08:12 AM.

It’s not only on him, it’s on us too,” Udeze said. “We are the players who go out and play the game. I would say (to fans) to stop getting on him. As players, we play. He gives us stuff to execute and they shouldn’t criticize him as much. Give him that chance.”

The problem here is that if the coaches are not holding players accountable for doing things correctly it is there fault. If coaches are not giving you the tools to be successful, it is their fault. HCIB said it was on him, I'm sorry, that's not good enough, how long will the program suffer? I guess we'll find out soon how much the players really trust HCIB. They all talk a good game, will they really give him a chance by staying and proving us all wrong? Is this a system they feel can get them to the next level?
Another concern out of that article is that TE came back from NBA camps needing more pick and roll action, so we change to something we are not good at to appease one players future and abandon the team concept.

Tyson and FVV were on the almost same exact trajectory. HCIB was here for both. Yes, FVV had HCGM. TE did not. All undisputable facts.
I wasn’t trying to disparage either player. Just stating an issue with the original post.
And who here didn’t think our offense would run through TE this year? The reigning CPOY?
There are lots of legit claims to support why HCIB was over his head. This one isn’t one of them.

trying to make TE an NBA PG wasn't working? IB lost control of him and by giving
TE so much leeway other members of the team began playing for themselves, as well.
Individual play was a cancer that seemed to spread to several others and is why we
probably had the lowest team assist number ever. Just my opinion doesn't mean I am
right.
