First, the biggest difference between this year's team and last year was Alterique Gilbert. Gilbert was a really good point guard and we missed him this year. missed him more than I realized. In a close game, good guards can win a game and bad guards can help you lose. As others have said, Trying to develop Tyson as a point guard didn't work and Porter wasn't good enough either. WSU has more turnovers than assists this year, I think I read that.
This team is like a band. As individuals, they might play well, but together they sound awful. This band needs to break up. This team needs different players.
I would keep Ricky Council 4, Kenny Pohto, and the two redshirts. Everyone else can leave and I wish them good luck in all their future endeavors.
As to coach Brown. IMO, the thoughts expressed about coach Brown and his being fired are not fair and I am being kind.
As to moving forward, the first thing I would do today is call Carl Hall and see if he would join the coaching staff this year. I believe the big guys need a coach and I think he would do well.
WSU and coach Brown needs to establish the team's identity, Does he want to play slow or fast? Does he want to emphasize offense or defense?
Also, I would follow the Gonzaga model to get back to the top of basketball where fans want to be. Starting with scheduling, I would play any team anywhere that was good. I would really focus, as Gonzaga did early on with making sure our guard play was great.
Those are my thoughts for now and come back next year and evaluate where we were then.
Those are my thoughts.I won't tolerate rude behavior

Ft. Worth isn't the problem. Wichita sucking ass is the problem. And escalating gas prices don't help. A good Shocker team is going to pull at least 5k to the tournament there. I hated STL and was looking forward to DFW.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan
RIP Guy Always A Shocker
Carpenter Place - A blessing to many young girls/women
ICT S.O.S - Great local cause fighting against human trafficking
Wartick Insurance Agency - Saved me money with more coverage.
Save Shocker Sports - A rallying cry

The main thing is this conference just isn't supported well enough in basketball to ever have a full arena no matter WHERE it is. Outside a couple of Universities there just isn't enough of a following.
If WSU gets back, even a little bit, then the conference will rely on us just like the MVC did after Creighton left. Hell, had WSU won 1-2 games this week the fans would have travelled down. I have almost no doubt about that. It is what sets our fanbase apart from most of our conference, let alone most of the country."He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. "He said he was going to be a Shocker forever." -- RIP Guy, you WILL indeed be a Shocker forever!

CP shot better from 3 .341 to .289. CP averaged 4.9 rebounds and AG 3.1. CP had 39 steals and AG had 35. CP had 28 blocks and AG 2. CP ft % .735, AG .71. CP 7.3 pt/game and AG 10.3. AG was a volume shooter but his percentage was not good. Had CP taken the same number of shots he would have averaged more than AG. I hope CP is here next year as he seemed to be the main reason we did as well as we did this year. It would be frightening to think about the alternative.

I'm really brainstorming because it sucks to see such an empty arena for our league.Last edited by TrackSuitAndTie; March 13, 2022, 09:38 AM.
