It is pretty clear that opponents, especially in AAC play, are not going to let Tyson beat them and most have the ability to take that away. So the other guys are going to have to step up and make teams pay for that strategy. Last night Ricky made that happen with the assistance of Mo, Dex and Craig. Unfortunately, this has been the exception instead of the rule this year.
I'm sure the coaching staff is aware this is the case, but I am not sure they have done much game planning with this in mind. Perhaps they simply do not have the confidence that the other guys can step up consistently. And so far that seems to have been the case. Ricky's done it in a few games. Dex seems to be coming on a little lately but has shot the ball very poorly this year. Mo is pretty solid when he plays to his strengths but he struggles when double teamed and is a very poor passer. Craig is not going to score a lot but he makes everyone better.
At this point any win is a good win but it does not appear that they will come easy. It will be interesting to see how the guys play at Tulane on Saturday. The first time going on the road in 3 weeks. It will be only the 4th true road game so far this year but the Shock have wins over Mizzou and Oklahoma State in 2 of the previous road games. Tulane has kind of been up and down this year.
Tyson had a decent game in the 1 point loss to Tulane in Wichita and Craig had his best game of the year in that one. However, Mo and Dex did not play in that game. I think the Shocks have a decent shot in that game.
