One point. Our Basketball brand will be bigger in the AAC without Houston and Cincinnati. We will probably get more prime AAC tv spots. We along with SMU and Memphis will be the AAC Basketball brands to start with.

With all of the letters involved with the new additions, we could possibly become the unofficial conference of the LGBTQIA2S+ crowd.

            The possibilities...

Yeah, that's not how that works.

There are still some final details to work out. A significant boost in television money for the six schools is expected, but they are not expected to get the same share of the TV revenue that the established eight schools currently get.

Conference USA schools currently receive less than $1 million annually in television revenue. The amount they will receive is still being finalized, but the television revenue will be more than $2 million at the start of the deal and rise significantly from there. Incumbent AAC members are still expected to average about $7 million annually over the course of the current ESPN television deal, which runs through 2031-32.
That's a smart way to handle things financially on the football side. I wonder if the MWC schools were offered a slightly lower than 7M payout and that's why they balked? Somewhere between what they make now and 7M.

In other news: it appears the MWC has said they aren't expanding now. That's bad news for our basketball.

Maybe we need to get this football thing started ASAP. If we were playing FBS we wouldn't be crying so loudly.

I could see Memphis and Temple flirting with the A10

I think the Big East is a definite possibility. Seriously. The only caveat that the Big East is looking for are schools with quality basketball programs that aren't football focused. Pretty much Wichita State.

Travel to Omaha, Chicago, Milwaukee, Cincy and Indianapolis are easy destinations. Wichita State makes great sense. Plus, the conference has already said they are looking to expand, if the leadership at WSU hasn't already inquired, they aren't doing thier job
There are three rules that I live by: never get less than twelve hours sleep; never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city; and never get involved with a woman with a tattoo of a dagger on her body. Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

They can't do that w/ football.

Memphis did a lot of damage as a CUSA member. If we can stay together with them in the AAC, we may be okay....

If they somehow get a parachute, we are so fkd it's not even imaginable.

The positive side is the fact that we are in a conference with some serious academic institutions. Makes the Big Pee look like the little liberal arts colleges they are. Podunk.

                      Football time for WSU.

Yeah. The Vatican could be holding our basketball nutsacks in its Holy hand.

Something about playing with those schools still makes me nauseous though. It was the same kind of feeling I had about the Little Wookie (McDermott). Nothing about him or the Priest schools excited me. Unathletic with a lot of 3 balls getting jacked up.

I'm sure I'll spin it to the positive if we manage to get in. I was just so happy in the AAC. I would have picked that every time over the Pee the way it was when we joined. I just love Cincy and Memphis. Always have. Compared to a conference full of Creighton clones...?

You are right that the leadership should at least be entertaining this as a future possibility. The BE at the least has good financial support, is basketball focused, and will likely always have multiple teams invited to the Tournament. I have no doubt that Bardo would entertain the possibility, because he knew how important that a national athletic program could be to his academic goals.

Hopefully, they continue to do the unbalanced schedule in basketball with the teams that are expected to be the best playing each other twice. In a 20 game schedule, each school would play 7 schools twice and 6 schools once.

If we only get a 30% share of revenue, you would hope we would only have to pay 30% of the exit fee. I wonder what the new schools are paying to join. I think WSU paid $2.5 million.

I promise ESPN isn't looking at this table when deciding TV money. They're focusing on oblong ball sports.
