It seems as though WSU needs to push AAC to try and add Saint Louis and Dayton, or try for A10, or try and start football. Without football being in the new AAC will be worthless after Memphis and possibly SMU joins Cincy and Houston in the Big 8+4+4 when they do second round of expansion.

I just don’t see BigEast as a possibility. I think if the AD keeps his current attitude WSU ends up in a Football/East Coast dominated league when it’s all said and done.

We are the jetsam grasping at the flotsam in this wreckage. While it's completely logical to hang on I think it's time to accept the reality that Wichita State as a nationally relevant sports brand is in its death rattle. We can blame any number of ADs, Presidents, or alumni, but it is what it is.

In ten years you'll have to look for our games against OCU and UNO like Australian Football. Thanks to the internet they'll be there, but the casual fan tuning in to a Tuesday night ESPN2 matchup? Nah.

Does it suck that the Vanderbilts, Rutgers, Wake Forests, Washington States, and Kansas States of the world get a free ride on homesteaders' exemptions? Sure it does. But, life ain't fair.

Trying to be optimistic here and as much as this does 100% suck...I think we can overcome in the short-term. Particularly if we can make a couple deep runs in March within the next couple years. It would be HUGE to do that this upcoming season.

Kids still wanna play for a WINNER. Yes they wanna get "paid" now...but the fan, community and program support in Wichita is practically second to almost none. A couple more "deep runs" within the next couple years in the tourney may just push the meter closer to getting on the radar of a Big East invite. May....

If that happens...then our long-term problems go away.
