What is the absolute worst that can happen? Either the SEC, ACC, B1G, PAC-12 and maybe the B12 leave the NCAA and create a new college athletics association, or they stay and the NCAA reclassifies based on football and the AAC falls apart along with every other conference.
Big whoop

I didn’t care for the bury our football heads in the sand mentality when the 1986 decision was made.
The remodel of the football stadium resulted in a 30k seat high school stadium and about as bare bones and uninspiring as it gets. The 1970 disaster had nothing to do with the 1986 decision (look at Marshall) and the recent resurgence of the UAB program provides a template in getting football back on track.
We’re committed to BB and need to make it count as essentially we gave up football to be ultra competitive on the national stage in basketball.
Interesting article on the UAB football program just in case our BB program is terrible and we start thinking of bringing football back…

I remember some on here a few weeks ago were predicting the end of the Big 12.
Now you are predicting the end of the AAC.
I'm not betting or predicting the end of anything just yet.

1. Boatright doesn't seem like much of a mover and shaker in regards to conference affiliation
2. AAC exit fees
3. Our last two NCAA appearances are losses to Marshall and Drake

I don’t know about most of you on here, but there’s a lot of debate about current value of a college education. I have a daughter applying to schools now and many colleges are quoting $65k+ per year for tuition, room and board. I don’t know how many majors are worth $250k + for an undergraduate degree. These colleges need donors to keep giving. A decline in competitive sports doesn’t help keep the alumni base excited about giving money. With the way technology is taking over the world and the rate at which everything is changing, there’s not going to be a lot of good job opportunities outside of engineering and medical degrees, How do colleges justify charging a kid $250k to be a teacher or liberal arts major? This is about so much more than basketball affiliation.

The biggest reason I liked the AAC basketball move ...... just moved. Cincy and Houston. Memphis, Tulsa, and SMU were a bonus.
Also, I liked the big upgraded in baseball.
However, the AAC has become a shell of itself and picking off a few new schools won't change that.
I also like the MWC: SDS, Utah St, Air Force, UNLV, CSU. But the 3 time zone thing is a bit of a hang up and most of all, they too are in some flux.
We are a basketball school. So are the Big East and Atl-10.
While there are teams in the Big East I don't care much for, they also have ones I do like. I'd prefer they expand to 14 or more, but I wouldn't watch the paint dry if they'd offer us.
I think I'd be good with the Atl-10 as well....Dayton, VCU, St Louis, George Mason, UMass. Although, they have a few schools who seem to be perennial bottom feeders. Pretty certain they would offer.
Unless the Big East happens to offer, I think we're in a wait and see mode (if we can afford to be in that mode).

AAC exit fees are a weak argument? We're going to come up with $10 mill by moving to the A-10? Dang! We struggled to come up with $2.5 mill to get into the AAC. Times have been a little tough on the financial end lately.

I'm curious to know what commentator and champion of Shocker basketball Mark Adams thinks about all of this. I wonder if he may be someone who starts the "talk" nationally of Wichita and the Big East in the same sentence.
I know he's a Dayton guy (which is fine and all)...but maybe he gets some conversations going about how the two schools should be in that conference.FINAL FOURS:

Losing to Drake, while embarrassing, will have no impact on any future conference plans. Dilweed.Deuces Valley.
