There was bound to be a little rust tonight after 2 weeks. Positives were unselfish play with 23 Assists. Dex was amazing with 20/13. MU was very good with 12/10 (iirc). The things we struggled with tonight like shooting free throws were stats that we have usually been good at in our close games.

Time me to put it all together Saturday and next weekend.

Hey Shockernetters, did anyone listen to Coach Brown after the game talking about putting extra emphasis on the cutters moving crisply on offense? And multiple players staying after the game to work on their shot, which is really starting to show (Dex, AG). I'll bet he read my posts on here concerning an offense that could be playing just a little better, if they wanted to get that Championship ring.

I admit I was a little hasty in my grand proclamation and probably swayed by the moment. But to me this game was injected with pressure (maybe more than Saturday) because they were supposed to win this game, therefore they were susceptible to the thorns of expectation. Lord knows I felt it the last 10 minutes of the game. Whew... But they pulled it out and I'm more than happy for them. There's no better place on this forum, for many reasons, to express (including the game thread itself) the consequence of the moment. We can discuss poor rebounding (and poor shooting) somewhere else, can't we? Maybe the Wichita State Recruiting forum?

It's too bad for SMU they got swept by Houston. It's too bad for Memphis that they got swept by Tulsa. If we win Saturday (and I believe we will) we will have earned the AAC conference crown outright, and there ain't gonna' be any god***n asterisks or footnotes needed to make it so either. SMU or Memphis can get their shot to prove otherwise next weekend.

It's great to be excited...it's probably also prudent to be not celebrating TOO much until the 'hay is in the barn'. But last night was a pretty big step. As MK said, this Tulane teal belies its' record a bit and SHOULD be a force to be reckoned with.
Look...Coach Brown will have losses...maybe even rough patches...but to me this season SOOOO far exceeds original expectations, hard NOT to celebrate and enjoy the ride.

But yeah...those free throws!!!:)
