  • They MUST find a better way to fill the student section. All the student tickets were gone early, great.....but there were at least 150-200 empty seats.

    Fill them.

This isn't a one time occurrence. It happens FAR more often than not. At least TRY to fill them.

How about walkup sales 30 minutes prior to tip off. If 1200 (or however many are distributed) aren't pinged by 630, then GA tickets for $10 go on sale until that number is scanned through. Be early. Get new fans to the game.

    There are ways....lots of ways.

But then, we can't even recognize one of the best young men ever to come through the program on a night he reaches a milestone. I hold out NO hope this will change 1 iota.

    • How have we accomplished 20-4 with a pretty tough schedule? Let's look at last night. We had less turnovers, shot and made more throws, and we settled down in the 2nd half and fed the ball inside to Stutz. We also had some nice easy layups by Rags, and Toure' is at his best when he plays his mid-range slashing game. D-Will is playing some ferocious D.

Did you see Rags try to get on Stutz at the time out and Stutz just stormed by and did not want to hear it. Could our Stutz be getting a mean streak when the situation calls for it? How about when Stutz went up for the inside shot and their player slammed him with hands straight down on Stutz arm and mauled him with his body. No call? Pla---eesse!! Maybe it is sinful to be 7 foot tall and take the 'Valley Of Death' by storm?

Well, we still have lot's of work to do. You wait and see. Kyles will get hot some night when we need it the most and pull us through. In the meanwhile, he is not scoring much but doing the intangibles. Remember how miserable it was the Season he was injured and could not play in the N. Iowa game? We are behind you all the way DK!!!
Shocker basketball will forever be my favorite team in all of sports.

I could have came. I kept track on the phone from the hospital. Which is where I should have been. The tickets I had for me and my family were used though, and I promise you they were loud and proud to be there.

          • That happens, doc, because our marketing folks are more interested in the sponsors than our players, and more interested it would seem in doing game production "pro style" (for resume purposes? because they think they're smarter than the fans?) rather than letting our natural, organic, COLLEGE basketball atmosphere out of the can. Perhaps we can do some chants while the promos are going. Some standard Shocker ones of course, but I'm thinking more along the lines of:

            NO MORE PRO-MOS, clap,clap,clap-clap-clap
            LET THE BAND PLAY, clap,clap,clap-clap-clap
having an unofficial kazoo night (vuvuzelas are too big) and make an unholy racket during every timeout

            I can dream can't I?

            • Got to give credit to our defense in the second half, I thought it was outstanding. This is one of a very few games in which our defense kept the opposing team from driving in for easy baskets. Our guys were swarming all over them.

Not only did our man Stutz bully it to the basket, but Rags and Toure both were very successful as well on numerous occasions. This further contributed to one of the reasons we took so many foul shots.

Glad to see the drop-off on the threes as far as numbers, but we still need to be able to hit a few to keep the defense honest. Rags, Smith, and Kyles need to get their confidence back. Kyles only took one shot the whole game. We need your offence as well as your spark. Get mad, get glad, and come storming back. You can do it.

Seems like we have transitioned from an over-dominating 3 point shooting/rebounding team to an inside scoring machiine and have lost our rebounding and outside shooting skills along the way. Of course several games in which our less than accurate shooting very possibly contributed significantly to this game plan reversal. I like it, but nothing one dimensional works very long before opposing teams figure out means to combat it.

I know it is asking a lot, and GM is not heaving up the long range balls, but if he can smoothly bring back the confidence of our shooters and combine both game plans into one, the path to the NCAA's, and a nice run while we are there, will be his reward.

              • This just in from Wesley Medical Center:

The chair that Coach Marshall went after at the end of the first half, has been upgraded from critical condition to serious condition but is expected to make a full recover with only a slight disability. Further updates will be provided as warranted.

                • Good points '60. I too thought our D was fantastic in the 2nd half. Championship D.

Toure' hasn't gotten enough love for his game last night...he was dominating at times, quietly so, but dominating still.

Interesting thought about bringing back shooters confidence.....maybe they haven't been verbally humiliated enough yet (insert gynormous sarcasm emoticon).

I get that it is their job to pull in the dough, but when we were on that first run in the second half and they had to call a time-out, if the band had played the fight song right then , I don't think their players could have heard the coach. I'm pretty sure the K-State band is all over their fight song in those situations.

Hey, maybe if we alllowed smoking in the arena during the game, the casino crew would buy up those empty seats . . .

                        • I haven't read every post in this thread but what's the average age of our crowd, 86? I am sick of people sitting on their hands for these games. I realize that I probably make a fool out of myself at times cheering and making noise but it helps our team. It seems that I am surrounded by people who don't even acknowledge the game?

                          • Watching the game on tv was extremely discomforting for awhile. First, generally speaking, the national media praises WSU fans and the atmosphere at Koch. It was a big letdown to see so many empty seats. (No, I was not part of the problem, I stayed home because my wife is ill). Perhaps the time and crappy weather had a lot to do with it. Plus, being a metropolitan university, I tend to think our non-traditional student makeup plays a part in our student section.

With that said, very proud of the way GS continues to fight through the pain and play well. In addition, the first half seemed that it might set the tone for the way the Shox would play the entire game. I'm happy they fought through the adversity of not bringing their A or B game and get the win.

I like the World Cup Stadium horn.

Can you imagine 10,000 of these babies going off at the same time in a small arena?

Oh baby, that's what I talking about.

(Yes, I know that it is probably against the rules.)
