You can make bad shots. He made a few of those but just because a shot goes in, doesn't mean it was a good shot.

His decision making is what gets me at times. He wants to barrel through the lane like a bull and draw contact but can't hit free throws. That's not a very effective strategy. If one of your goals is to get into the lane and draw contact, you better be making your throws or it's just as good as a turnover.

Exactly on going to the cup. If your going to draw fouls by driving to the cup you need to make the free throws otherwise they amount to nothing more than a turnover.

I don't disagree with some of this, but he shot 71% from the line last year. What you are saying is just don't drive the ball any more because making 1-2 isn't worth it and you'd rather have the opposition know he's not going to drive the ball. With this whole strategy, you don't want to give him the chance to get back to a 70% plus FT shooter. Fortunately, he still has confidence that he can make the throws. He also has the highest assists per game on the team which would probably take a hit if the opposition knows he's not going to drive. Same goes for his 45% 3pt shooting.

Did Etienne have his fingers wrapped or something to start the game? His first few shots were WAY off. Then after The corner shot that basically hit the side of the backboard it looked like he pulled something off his hand and threw it off the court. His shot was ok after that

He must have. Saw him throw what looked like tape off the court as well. Had a frustrated look in doing so. Tough kid. We got sum dudes on this squad!

Okay, I understand. What was it (in KenPom) before the game?

The key in KenPom is a team's "AdjEM," which is based on their offensive rating vs. their defensive rating. WSU's lethargic effort against ECU caused their AdjEM to drop by more than a full point, which is a huge change for one game.

As a result, their KenPom overall ranking fell from 31st before the game (last time I looked, anyway) to 40th as I type this. But if their AdjEM had simply stayed the same instead of dropping so sharply, I believe they'd still have been ranked 31st, and just a tiny fraction out of 30th. But their offense dropped a wee bit, thanks to all the missed FTs, and their defensive rating (basically, points allowed per 100 possessions) got almost a point worse, hence the stumble.

Well, I wouldn't announce the strategy or anything but I would invoke it. Maybe last year was a fluke? I'm not seeing anything that remotely resembles a 70% FT shooter.

What’s the story with Dooley at FGC? From the outside, FGC appears > ECU in the basketball hierarchy. I know he was at ECU previously... does he have roots in Greenville? I really like the dude. Wish he was on our bench.
