the basket and you would have said nice bucket great 4 minutes big guy.
Looking at the replay - I am not sure he actually stepped out and he was fouled to cause the step. We got a friendly whistle, but not on that one.

    • We won ECU played well. WSU defense had no answer for their dude.

Took way too many 3s as ECU was effective at hounding our bigs when we got it to them.

Tulane pushed Memphis in their opener as well, for whatever that means.

TW and JB need to get in the gym and practice free throws. Their going to the free throw line these days is like a turnover. AM I am so disgusted with him. The announcers keep saying he is a crowd favorite. Why the hell is he? He does nothing out there. So sick of watching him play soft. You would never know he is 7 ft.

Pretty sure they had a lot of injuries early. They had won 4 in a row before today. They are a better team than last year. Joe Dooley has some players to work with this year.

          • We will be a better team with DD and am so glad he is coming back. We could have used his solid D, and rebounding today. The Shocks know that each game from here will be tough and never to be taken for granted.

            • Gardner is a beast. Not many will have an answer for him.

Last year as a Freshman he put up 35 points and 20 boards against UCF. Took it right at 7’6” Tacko Fall

They lost though...he had no help last year whatsoever. They are improved and will beat some teams they shouldn’t

I didn’t see your post before I made mine. We think alike. Could be scary.

Kennedy said Tyson Etienne was back on the court after the game working on his shot. That's admirable but I didn't think his shooting was the problem as much as it was his shot selection. He just needs to be a little more judicious on the shots he takes.

Kudos to ECU for playing a very good game and battling all the way. Kudos for the Shocks to pull out a game when they were not at their sharpest and the opponent perhaps was. The Shocks made the plays when they needed to make the plays but they certainly made things harder on themselves with their poor free throw shooting with Jamarius and Trey at combined 7-16 struggling the most. Personally, I don't really care for JB's off-center positioning on his free throws.

But hey 12-1 is substantially better than I was expecting at this point in the season but the Shocks do need to play better going forward than they have in the past 2 games. The next to home games should be tough games which is probably good before heading out on the road. Do we really know how this team will respond to playing on the road despite the strong performance in Stillwater. A sample size of 1 isn't much to go on. Have the Shockers ever played only 1 true road game over the first 15 games of the season before?

The person that needs to be working on their shot selection is Burton.

Tyson was 4-12. Yes, Jamarius made a couple of poor choices as well, but he was 4-6 from the field. Tyson was 4-12. Erik was also 4-12 although I thought he took mostly good shots just wasn't hitting consistently.

But there's a difference. When JB misses a shot, it's only because it was a bad shot. No bad shots....makes all shots.

Others miss shots, but they're good shots that just didn't go in. There's a difference don't you know.

JB had a horrible day at the FT line, but criticizing him went he went 4-6, led the team with 12 points in the 1st half, and plays well enough to be 2nd in mpg for the season is just silly.

                        • JB is still off center and shooting back at the rim. 5-10 today. I thought he played well otherwise.

Did anyone else think Erik had more than 9 boards? I certainly did.

You can make bad shots. He made a few of those but just because a shot goes in, doesn't mean it was a good shot.

His decision making is what gets me at times. He wants to barrel through the lane like a bull and draw contact but can't hit free throws. That's not a very effective strategy. If one of your goals is to get into the lane and draw contact, you better be making your throws or it's just as good as a turnover.
