Whoops, let me clarify. Ron is good, there is no doubt of that. But Wessel is closer to his ceiling than Baker. That is not to say Wessel is better than Baker or vise versa. It just says that it is wiser to RS Baker one year.

But idc what Marshall does, because Baker will be a big time player for WSU.

In my book, that still puts Baker as the third option as a freshman SG. Perhaps DWill will stick at point? I don't see Baker as a PG. Someone correct me if I am wrong.
The better the team is year in and year out, the harder it will be for underclassmen to find playing time. If Baker has trouble (that's no knock on him) getting playing time against DWill and Mitchell, what's the likelihood he'd see any time this year? So do you not redshirt him this year and he sees a few minutes in blowouts and then sees a little more minutes the next year or redshirt this year and probably play more minutes in his redshirt freshman year than he would have in his true freshman year? Waste 1 year or 2 to little playing time?

I think Wessel becomes more of a SF/SG like Murry. Of course he would have Early ahead of him and also be battling Ede (as a soph or RSfreshman) next year. Then there's Cotton with all sorts of PG/SGs ahead of him this year and FVV coming in next year. I think everyone can start to see the (good) problem a coaching staff has with quality depth.

Ron Baker will be the type of player you haven't seen at WSU in a long, long time.

        And it will be good.

And there will be much celebration.

Jake White is too good and we're too thin inside to allow him to redshirt.

Now if he were to redshirt (which he won't) then it's game on. If EO and JA are good enough to provide that kind of quality depth, look out.

I don't think White will RS, but...

...as the good Doctor said, if Anacreon and EO are able to provide all the backup minutes WSU needs at 4 and 5, then the Shox will be very good this year.

That creates the possibility of next year's Fr class (with this year's RS's) including VanVleet (PG), Wessel (SF), Baker (SG), White (PF), Uwadiae (C). That appears to be a solid prospect at every position.

I've left EdeE out of this because I think he's the least likely Fr to RS this year.

There's not much problem putting together a 10-player rotation that appears pretty solid, but doesn't use more than one Fr.

Yikes! Stripes! That some Beechnut depth.
The future's so bright - I gotta wear shades.
We like to cut down nets and get sized for championship rings.

Don't forget Mr. Cotton, whether he RSs or not, that's one more quality underclassman.

I expect multiple redshirts. Too many good players, not enough "value" minutes to go around, especially in the 6'5" and under group. Another good thing about redshirting, it allows a miss on a player down the road. Something that hurt MT in the end, missing on recruits with no backup plan.

I haven't always been a big fan of redshirting but it just seems to make sense with this group.
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

I agree, this is one of those oddball seasons where a strategic redshirt makes sense.

I feel that naming who will redshirt is a crapshoot, because the coaches will see the players everyday, and the candidates for redshirting will be the ones that the coaches think that need to be, based on how they are playing, could they produce this year or not, how much depth to their position, and other factors.

....and then I offer this really, really, good blast from the past. @shock if you are a financial advisor I want you to handle my money.

and @WuDrWu: has so many spot on predictions about Ron before he even played a minute, it's not even funny.

My advising is a little more on the political marketing side.
