Let's see....this might have something to do with it: Ragland, Williams, Kyles, Cotton, maybe Murry and Wessel, and walk-ons Armstead, Mitchell, and Baker. How many teams would like to have the last 3 in their game rotation? Just for scrimmages, there's not a lot of time to go around.
Any walkon that joins THIS program with thought that playing time is available is probably not sharp enough to even get the attention of our coaches. I doubt Adam would have seen the floor even if he didn't redshirt which I feel certain he would have. I just hope there isn't some kind of family trouble or health issue that keeps him from doing what he wants, that's all.

I think you are dreaming about the 10,000. I have been to all of them and they attract about the 4 to 5 thousand.

        Agreed, Doc.

And hoping that is not the case, that was my point. I was speaking of getting much scrimmage time with that number of guards. Being # 8, maybe #10, in the pecking order of guards puts one on the back burner (way back burner), especially when the 3 other walkons will be playing important rolls in the future and need to get as much attention/scrimmage floor time as possible. Just a possible reason.

There are walk-ons and then there are *cough, cough* walk-ons.

              Mitchell is the latter. :D

As is Malcolm Armstead and possibly Ron Baker

Realistically the program uses traditional walk-on players for practice squads. With the addition of Baker, Armstead, and Mitchell as "walk-ons" I think they are more than adequate for the practice squad work this year. I'm sure Hasty leaving had something to do with that, if it didn't, I'd be surprised.

I also remember attending some of these in the Ted Bredehoft era when the roundhouse was packed full for these events. I think they called it the annual Black vs. Gold game back then. But Ted was a huge promoter, he knew how to fill the place.

10,000 show up to games at $20 a pop plus SASO. That same attendance at Shocker Madness should be no problem if it was adequately promoted.

But here it is, early October. This thing is probably in a few weeks and no one has any idea of the exact date. When it's announced, it will probably be a Sullentrop bulletpoint and maybe a 1/4 page ad in the Eagle.
The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Shocker Madness - Thursday, October 27th.

Not sure I like the weekday night scheduling.

Dates, times and the schedules for Shocker Madness (Oct. 27) and the Shocker Luncheon Series, including the annual Tip-Off Luncheon (Nov. 3) have been set.

However, I do like like having a full 40 minute intrasquad scrimmage by the men.

Three weeks notice does allow people to plan and gives them a chance to promote this a little bit if they chose to.

Getting the NIT Rings and the 40 minute scrimmage might create a little more buzz than in the past if properly promoted.

The positive about having it on Thursday is it doesn't have to compete with College Football on the tube.

Maybe will draw 6k to 7k this year.

Sub, just be careful. I hear there is a strain of flu going around that only hits on the 27th of the month.

Freakin Thursday. How stupid is that? We won't get 5k - 6k...because of the fact it's on a Thursday alone. Hello 2,000 people.
