I'm not sure on what planet Thursday makes more sense than Saturday. I hope I'm able to pull it off and be there, but it doesn't look good. It's a lot easier for people to make time for this on Saturday than a weekday. It can most definitely be an issue for those with kids. Especially younger kids. I expect a smaller attendance than what we're used to. Work, school, dinner. They all play into this for families. The women's team is absolutely screwed on this deal as well. Can't build a fan base for them when nobody gets a chance to see them.

This is a very disappointing move. Friday at midnight would get more people I think. The hype behind that and with the following day being Saturday... I doubt that'll ever happen here though. But Saturday makes a hell of a lot more sense.

Top 10 Reasons For Attending the Shocker Volleyball Match Tonight:

      10. It will take your mind off being upset about Shocker Madness (at least until you see how easy parking will be tonight)

      9. Good chance of rain this afternoon and evening (bad for FWS) so you may as well plan an indoor activity tonight.

      8. It is a Saturday.

      7. The Shocks will not be back in Koch Arena until October 28th (October 27th if you can make Shocker Madness)

      6. It is Wichita Eagle Family Night - 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs, 4 popcorns and 4 drinks for $32

      5. We play Creighton (I keep waiting for all the Hatin' on Creighton rhetoric to manifest itself by people actually showing up when they have the chance to put some walk behind the talk)

      4. This match has important MVC and post-season ramifications

      3. Pretty girls in short-shorts.

      2. You love your Shockers, you know you do!

      1. A real good chance you could find Eric Sexton and let him know your thoughts on Shocker Madness (please do not lead with "I oughta kick your ...."). Of course, this may tend to cancel out reason #10.

I suspect they are just trying something different to see if they get different (better) results. If it fails then make note not to do it again and move on. I've been disappointed with the attendance the past several years so I have no problem with this.

It probably means we won't try and come in from out of town, but oh well.

DON'T complain about a Thursday night event unless you are only a two or three day-a-week WSU fan!

A seven day-a-week WSU fan will be there without complaint!

Do you have our gasoline budget? Are you going to be driving in several times in the next few weeks to attend (and pay admission to) WSU concerts your son is performing in?

My point is, don't judge other people's reasons for not doing something.

Come on...are we Shocker fans? Three weeks notice is plenty on most levels people. Put it on your calendar, be there and stop complaining. Or don't be there and you will for certain get a recap with incredible accuracy, emotion and passion from those who were there.

Do we go to regular season games during the week? Hell yes. Do we cry tears about that? Hell no.

I just checked my calendar. It's my birthday. I just told my wife not to schedule a family birthday get-together that night because I'm going to Shocker Madness. Potential scheduling problem FIXED.

SEE ALL SHOCKER FANS ON OCTOBER 27!!!

I fixed it for my report from Shocker Madness.

This is my guess, although I would have preferred a Saturday. Fortunately for me I can make a Thursday work although I will have to hustle to make it there by 6:00 for the Ladies scrimmage. My guess is many will not even make the effort for that but will be there for the Men's scrimmage at 7:00. So it will hurt the exposure for the women's team, although not sure they really receive much bottom line benefit from their Shocker Madness exposure. At least I have not noticed that in terms of butts in the seats at the women's games.

The autograph session at 5:00 pm on a Thursday will probably prove to be a waste of time.

I do like having it a couple of weeks into the practice season as I think we will see more of a finished product and I do like the idea of a 40 minute scrimmage which I assume will be a running clock scrimmage.

As Royal said, if this flops in terms of attendance it will no doubt be a one year experiment.

Doubt if we can make it over to ICT by 6, but do not wanna miss this. Free is great, tho I'd pay for this show.

I'll be there on Thursday, but not on Saturday. KSU - OU football tickets trump Shocker Madness.

I would love to make it but we just moved to Denver, CO Love living here, but will hate missing games. I did see a college aged dude wearing a Wichita State Shockers shirt in a starbucks recently. He said his friend plays baseball there, "good baseball team" he said. I see CU stuff everywhere and Im used to seeing the colors but not used to Colorado on them. Cant wait for the CU vs WSU matchup though!

I was riding my bike through a college town in California wearing my bright yellow WSU volleyball shirt when one guy I just rode past yelled "WSU ... Go Shockers" to me.

Don't worry too much about it. Just do all you can do and let the rough end drag.

Wichita is such a last minute town that 3 weeks notice is plenty for most folks. As for Thursday vs. Saturday? Like most events, the change will irritate some and be better for others.

As any event planner can tell you, it's always a crap shoot.

Me, I'm just excited for the season to begin. The men's and women's teams look very promising and I, for one, plan to try to get everyone I know to join me at Shocker Madness.

At least it is three weeks notice. I realize that the Thursday date is a problem for many. It works well for me. I can go and get a better seat. Nothing the Athletics Department does can be a win for everybody. Three wees is bwtter than three days, if it doesn't work for you?: better luck next year!
