Can someone provide some objective analysis please? Because I am having a hard time. UMKC is not a good team – what the heck happened?

Baaaaaaaaad loss, it's going to take awhile! They have no business losing to this team, especially with a double digit second half lead. :-x

Foul trouble, shot horribley from the 3 point line (again), missed second half free throws and UMKC made some key/lucky shots at the end with their worst free throw shooter making both free throws to put the nail in the coffin, you knew when that happened it wasn't meant to be.

You know they all want to win but aren't sure what they need to do to make it happen. Time and recruiting will fix this problem.

Marshall even mentioned it. "I can't go to the waiver wire and pick people up...I need to coach better and we need to improve."

We had the chance to blow them out in the first half and didn't. Once they cut the lead inside 10, you could feel the momentum changing. It's obvious that we don't have a lot of experienced players... especially when our best player is in foul trouble most of the second half. There are times after a tough loss when it's best to "tip your cap" to the competition. I find it easier to accept a loss when I do this... sooooooooooo:

Congratulations UMKC... you wanted it more than the Shockers. You made the big 3's, clutch free throws and defensive stops down the stretch when you needed them.
              :good:

P.S. Sorry UMKC, I forgot to add that you also got every loose ball and key rebound in your win.

Not a really nice thing to say. It would be better to thank those that DID fight the weather to support our beloved Shox.

Here I am giving tips on how to be nice. lolololol

We had 18 turnovers. KC had 8. We shot 4 for 17 from the 3 point line after around 4-29 last game. We had the game under control, and kept them from scoring their normal high amount of points. (59-56) PJ fouling out was a killer. LSU and UAB are coming to 21st and Hillside and they are better then what we have played against so far..

We knew this would be a see-saw--topsy turvey year, especially 1st Semester. Realistically, we could be no less then 7-2, but instead we are 5-4. This ice-cold shooting from the 3 point line is perplexing. Back to the drawing board. Our effort is there. Our execution will have to improve to avoid the woes of the last 2 very winable games.

In conclusion, Rome was not built in 1 Semester. We have the right Coach, we have just began to fight, so keep the faith Shocker fans!!!

What happened on the last play? Why couldn’t/didn’t MB or someone else get a good decent look? Stuff like that can drive me crazy. Please tell me it was UMKC’s defense and not a busted play.

OK, it was that great UMKC defense. How many points do they give up on average this year?

                        [rant on]

                        Special Christmas Memo:

Cousinard - quit the D*&& NBA 3's, quite playing the perimeter like Gawd Shaw , start playing some D and slash to the basket. Please play a little smarter.

Clemente - I love your rebounding, but put the ball in the hole. If you can't shoot it, slam it (or don't shoot it)

Griskenas - Dude, quit with the excuses and the pity party. Just play ball.

Durley - not some much this game, but don't fall in love with the outside. You can dominate inside.

Matt B - You bring alot of energy, but if your not in control it's wasted. You have to lead and keep control and direct the offense - that's why your the floor leader.

Wendel - eat your wheaties so you can least get the ball to the rim from the FT line.

Coach Marshall - Ok, I don't know what Durley's doing in practice, but he can score. You need scoring. I get your message with Gal, but you need scoring, and his replacements weren't to impressive.

Thomasson - play smarter and please blockout.

Kerry Rosenboom - I don't know what your weight lifting program is, may want to rethink it - these guys look weak out there.

Butler - I don't what your deal is - but if you can play then get your butt out there. If you can't please transfer so we can get somebody else who can.

It's wakeup time - Winners will respond, dead weight needs to go. This team team needs contributions from all it players.

                        [/rant off]

This team is absolutely pathetic right now. No sense of offense whatsoever, no fight, definitely still reeling from the meltdown last season. How in the world do you let an 11 point lead slip away to a team that did nothing in the first half? I mean I expected this team to be bad, but not this bad. HCGM can only do so much, this loss falls on the players themselves. When are we going to learn not to live and die by the three pointer. 8 of 47 in the last 2 games is completely unacceptable. Being outrebounded and outhustled is also completely unacceptable. It's really hard to find positives from this game, and if we manage to beat LSU, UAB, or Drake it has to be considered a major upset.

You could just feel that loss coming about mid-way through the second half.

To state the obvious we are severely offensively-challenged.

Yes, I know the refs weren't great. But this was a game we should have won going away regardless of the quality of officiating. UMKC isn't exactly known for their defense.

The biggest negative is that this team's confidence seems to be in the toilet right now and things aren't going to get better until they themselves believe they can score and make critical free throws.

I can see now why HCGM has not been happy with this team's toughness, both mentally and physically.

I did think Mantas and Aaron made some positve steps forward tonight.

Overall though it is very difficult not to be discouraged after watching tonight's performance.

                              :(

                                What SB Shock said.

PJ...nine points, two rebounds for a team that desparately needs you? Which NBA team are you plannig to play for next year?
