Any loss at home to an hyphenated team is not good. Period. But then again, 4-29 from 3 point land will do that for you.
This team is so thin at certain spots and there isn't anything on the bench to resolve it. Getting nothing and I mean nothing from KW's supposed replacement hurts all the more. I know it's a big adjustment going from Juco to D-1, but this is beyond an adjustment issue.
As one looks down the schedule and notes LSU, UAB and others coming, you know a certain coach has his work cut out. The real concern is the Valley schedule, specifically the 4 out of 5 road swing mid January. Somebody had better figure out the 'adjustment period' by then or things could get really scary. 8)Above all, make the right call.

wow i am seriously fed up with gal. if there are 3 men on you with 2.4 seconds left, dont drive. Cux if there are 3 men on you, then 2 men are open.
I must say i thought it was classy the way some members of our student section spit on the refs and texas arlington players. way to go guys"Say it slowly and savor it..."

2. I wonder, if our former, wide open, 3 ball specialist is interested in returning for the spring semester. Would he be immediately elgible?
3. I wonder, if Dr. Wu has any remaining elgibility. If so, can he hit a 3 ball....at a higher clip than 13.7931035%.
4. When most shooters go cold, it gets in their head and the shot selection and form degrade. As ball after ball clanked off the rim, I could clearly see a change in shooting form. Gal was nursing the ball up there. Durley's ball was so far off line, it looked like golf shots gone bad. PJ's shot was getter more flat.
Great shooters have none of these problems. They may miss a number on consecutive shots, but they retain good selection and form. We do not have a great 3 ball shooter. He transferred. Fortunately, help is on the way.
5. I sit near the visitor's bench. After the first half, I overheard one of the Coach's pep talks to the players. This is what he said: "Those morons cannot hit a 3 ball, so we are going to pack it in. It will permit us to greatly reduce inside scoring, increase our rebounding performance and reduce their dribble penetration. Just leave them alone out there and this game is ours."
6. When Hatch was inserted into the game, I wonder what Coach Marshall had in mind. I wasn't opposed to it. I just thought it was odd.
7. I though Ellis look a little more comfortable last night. Not a great improvement, but better.
8. When Griskenas missed his first 3 ball, frustration was clearly shown on his face.
9. JT's drop and spin was a thing of beauty. The defender's jaw dropped about 6".
10. JT was 5-7 in the paint.
11. Gal cut his turnovers from 7 to 4.
12. I really like the way the team minimizes fouls and turnovers. Last night, the Shockers had a combined total of 21, which is outstanding.
13. We had one switch last night on Guignard that was just plain awful. PJ was one of the defenders and I am not sure, but Matt may have been the other defender. It occurred in the first half at the north end. Of course, Guignard knocked her down.
14. Unlike most posters and observers, I do not think UT-A is very good team. If they played as linebackers on the football team, I might think otherwise.
15. Coach Marshall says #3, Jermaine Griffin, is a pro prospect. You could not prove it by me. So, that tells you a lot about what I know about basketball.
16. Moffitt will be an enforcer for a crime organization some day. He is a rough customer.
2. As much as last night hurt, and with him we win by 20+, obviously the answer is no. Gregg would kill him before he could get on the floor anyway.
3. Since I was 2, I have been able to shoot better than 13% from 3. I broke a finger on my shooting hand once in warmup and still managed better than 13% (so I was 3/19...shoot me. It's still better than 13% and I was still the best option).
4. A more accurate assessment has NEVER been made. I still contend that we have GOOD shooters, but certainly not great shooters and God willing, yes, help is on the way.
5. People will disagree with me but I think last night was far more about last night for the Mavericks than it was for the Shocks and not that GM doesn't want to win every game, but he has different goals, imho.
6. (Inside HCGM) "I'm flippin tired of the same mistake over and over and over and over and over from the same kid. I'll walk down to the end of the bench and see what's there........"
7. I thought exactly the same thing and it makes me smile. So much upside.
8. Saw that as well and he hasn't taken a comfortable 3 since the preseason. If it were me I would tell Mantas to take every pull up 3, no matter the distance, until he gets comfortable at UMKC. You aren't coming out so you better be ready to score a ton or set a record for the most misses ever. Keep shooting in motion, allow it to flow naturally and shoot, shoot, shoot. I still think he is translating about half of what he hears and it affects his speed. I'll say it until he graduates, this kid is a stud.
9. JT is the most talented freshman forward since AC. I am not kidding. I cry when I think what he could have done for us last year if healthy and how good he would be this year.
11. Yes, but what he lacked in numbers he made up for in timing. However, the team as a whole has taken care of the ball very, very well the last 2 games especially. Those totals will work most of the time.
12. See 11 and not only encouraging against a quick and experienced bunch like UTA but goes a long way to explain how we can shoot so poorly and still essentially throw the game away at the end.
13. Unfortunately that wasn't the only time. Gal blew one so bad GM chewed his ass for most of the next timeout.
14. Have to disagree a little. I think they were lucky to shoot the ball so well last night, but they are far from bad. I know they could trounce Iowa State for example. :D
16. I don't know about that but I would wager that it will be crime related somehow.

Let's not forget that Griskenas was 1st team juco all-American. I can't help but feel that there is a a ton of potential here and we need to take whatever action necessary to get this guy going! I really think he could make a huge difference

I don't know what to think about the three-point shooting. I thought the Monmouth game was an aberration, but now it looks like a trend. Shooting is going to be unpredictable all season.
