You guys do realize that Gal is still only a sophmore, lay off the guy. You act like he is a 5th year senior. He is still learning. He got alot of upside, Coach Marshall is gonna let him play it out and learn.

I agree, I don't understand all the hate. I loved Gal quotes.

Gal wasn't THE problem last night.

Wonder why there is no ragging on Mat B - he had a terrible game.

Why no ragging on WP? His 0-for from the field and FT line didn't help.

Why no ragging on JT Or Cooz? How may points did they cost WSU because they continued to throw up 3's when there was money in the paint.

Why no ragging on Griskenas? He continues disappoint every game.

Come on Clemente and PT - quit missing every d.... bunny.

My philosophy on shooting was always:

When you're hot, shoot. When you're cold, shoot until you're hot.

But that was me. Most shooters I knew thought the same way.

I really don't take any credibility into what newshock says. However, if the other team was celebrating and trash talking like people say they were, then it would not surprise me a bit if the student section did spit at the players and the refs. And I'm pretty sure that newshock had a great look at EVERY SINGLE person in the student section... not! I've been to a couple mens games and seen our student section, and all I can say is classless. But, by the same token, show me a student section in any school that does have a ton of class

I agree that they should be taking open shots when they get them. My problem with last night's game is that they could get an open three about anytime that they wanted to. They should have been a little more patient on offense and tried to get something open besides a three. They could have always taken the open three when time was starting to wind down on the shot clock.

I am much, much more dissappointed in his ball handling and passing than him not making open looks from 3. Even though he has improved on his TO numbers, it seems like he dribbles a dozen times every time he touches the ball, and I can't help but expect a turnover.

I think this team will go as Matt and PG go. We can't have one of them score 0 pts and expect to win. They are the leaders of the team. We have to have consistency every game from them and when we don't get it, we will get to relive Monmoth and UTA again.

Last year we had Bradley, Mekel and Thomasson that could score for us off the bench.

This year, only Durley is giving us anything, in that regard.

Until someone else (Mantas, Ellis) shows some scoring punch, our margin for error is slim.

Royal, I would agree with you on Bradley last year... he added major points off the bench. I don't have the stats, but I would guess that Durley is scoring more off the bench than Gal and Phil did coming off the bench last year, combined!

I don't know how we ended up with only three guards (not counting Hatch or the walkons because I don't know anyone could have expected much from them).

with the difference being that Miller was playing good smart ball and couldn't get any credit for it while Gal was proclaimed the savior of the program before getting any minutes on the floor.

We need Gal to play well. I believe Gal is capable of playing well. I continue to expect good things from Gal. The problem on the board is that some people not only thought he should replace Matt (for no apparent reason), some of those people seemed to think he might should start over Steve Nash (should Nash somehow become available to us). What we are experiencing now is the crash of false expectations which inevitably leads people that were too optimistic at first to become too pesimistic later.

Karon (8), Phil (6) and Gal (4) combined for 18 points off the bench last season.

Durley is averaging just under 9.

I absolutely agree. From before the time Gal even stepped on campus, people were trying to take Matt's job and give it to Gal.

The same people then wanted to blame Gal's lack of production last year on MT's short leash.

Now that Gal has gotten a lot of playing time, all of those out of bounds expectations and excuses are shown to be false, but instead of admit that Gal was overhyped coming in, the tendency to criticize him.

The reality is that Gal has always had major strengths and major weaknesses. None of this should be news to anyone. He still has a lot to work on to correct those areas of weakness, but since he is only in the early part of his second season, he should be given time to develop. It was the belief that Gal would come in as a player that didn't need development that makes watching the growing process hard. For a less heralded player, the growing pains would be easier for the fan base to accept.

                            • Cut Gal some slack will you all. He's playing a million miles away from home, playing a different style of basketball he is accustomed to, having to deal with a new coach and new system, getting more playing time this year, is only a sophomore, and is inexperienced.

This year will be invaluable in what he is going to learn and adjust to. The future is bright with this kid (assuming he doesn't bail to the Euro Leagues). This team has more issues than just Gal.

                              • For the record I'm a believer that Gal is a good all around player who deserves the playing time he gets. I think we're a better team when he is on the floor then when he is off. I think the playing time he gets says it all about what the coach thinks about him.
