Good for Loyola. Would love to see them win the tournament. They definitely deserve to go to the dance over the rest of that conference. And screw UNI and their style of basketball.

The Drake-Bradley game is up next in the Valley tourney. In the pre-game, the announcer said that the main reason the Valley was able to finish as the #8 RPI conference in the country even after losing "their best team" was the improvement of Bradley and Drake.
According to Warren Nolan, Drake's RPI is 159 and Bradley's is 115. While that really is better than they have been, it really isn't good enough to help anyone. I think it kind of summarizes the problem with being in the Valley.

Interestingly, and something WSU dealt with, is that going undefeated can actually hurt you because of these stupid buckets. Going undefeated doesn't actually add Q2 wins, because winning those games moves the opponents to Q3. This would be true for at least 1 (MSU) and possibly 2(BU) games. It's also the reason I lose my crap when analysts and committee members talk about the quantity of tier games played, and admit to dismissing losses. Losses have to count.
