  • Good for Loyola. Would love to see them win the tournament. They definitely deserve to go to the dance over the rest of that conference. And screw UNI and their style of basketball.

    • The Drake-Bradley game is up next in the Valley tourney. In the pre-game, the announcer said that the main reason the Valley was able to finish as the #8 RPI conference in the country even after losing "their best team" was the improvement of Bradley and Drake.

According to Warren Nolan, Drake's RPI is 159 and Bradley's is 115. While that really is better than they have been, it really isn't good enough to help anyone. I think it kind of summarizes the problem with being in the Valley.

The reason the Valley Average RPI is better is the worst RPI is 185. The problem is that besides Loyola the BEST RPI is 88. So if you were Loyola your average conference RPI win would be 136 and have gotten exact ZERO Q1 wins ... even if you went undefeated. In fact .. going undefeated would have gotten you:
      0 Q1 wins
      5 Q2 wins

Interestingly, and something WSU dealt with, is that going undefeated can actually hurt you because of these stupid buckets. Going undefeated doesn't actually add Q2 wins, because winning those games moves the opponents to Q3. This would be true for at least 1 (MSU) and possibly 2(BU) games. It's also the reason I lose my crap when analysts and committee members talk about the quantity of tier games played, and admit to dismissing losses. Losses have to count.

    • Reed Timmer is the all time leading scorer for Drake? I would have never guessed that.

Perhaps that says something about the players around ghim and their inability to score over a 4-year period. Hersey Hawkins probably had a surrounding cast that was able to put up some points from time to time.

    • Bradley/Drake has actually been pretty entertaining. Probably the best two coaches in the Valley. Drake up 3 with 6 minutes left.

      • Timmer is such a ballhog.

        • Bradley wins on a putback with 1 second left. Janssen and Pollard did the game. Hope they’re in St. Louis for the whole weekend. Hope Higgins will be on a plane to Wichita Saturday night.

          • Bradley wins on a buzzer-beater.

Michigan blew out Nebraska, who is likely on the outside looking in.

You would be too if you played at a school for 47 years

            • Wow. Lusk’s 7’2” guy is utterly useless.

Helps Shox gain some votes in the polls as well as gives them a clear spot ahead on the S Curve if WSU can keep winning.

              • Penn State beats Ohio State on a dunk with 3 seconds left. WSU is possibly competing with Ohio State for a seed.

Its a good landing if you can walk away, its a great landing if the plane can be reused the next day.

And MSU still can’t afford to fire Lusk.

                • Lusk has to be gone, doesn't he?
Where oh where is our T. Boone Pickens.

                  • Can already tell you SWOMO fans will be disappointed in Lusk’s replacement. One guy’s list consisted of the head coaches at South Dakota State, Nevada, and Butler. Yikes.
