:good: And I saw numerous people around me act really PO'd with Marshall's antics. I guess if he cannot get his team to play inspired, then he feels the need to go after the crowd.

Although the crowd was the best of the year, I was disappointed in the crowd the last minute or so of the game (it was great up until then).

It was a very close game and we should have gotten very loud, instead it seemed like the crowd gave up and wasn't nearly intense enough at the end.

sorry have to call BS on that ...the crowd and I were great...we stymed them for 5 or 6 possessions and refused to get the ball into the paint and when it did get ther it was an out of control TM or DW on the break and not bringing the ball to the center to draw both defenders to him and pass or if not shoot and draw a foul.....effing BS...this team just wears you out mentally
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

I agree with you that the crowd was great during that period, pretty much from the 10 minute mark to the 1 minute mark. But during that last minute we lost intensity. I know we were all a little drained from the intensity but come on, there was only a minute left.

I tried standing up that last minute and everyone around me was saying sit down. I just felt like we needed to be very intense for the last minute of the game, and we just let up.

        • Just got back... wore out and a migraine.

          Some thoughts...
I'm not sure why every coach pulls a guy with 2 fouls in the first half, I guess it's the thing to do, but Ragland going out really hurt.

Murry is just awful at home. He thinks he's faster than he is and he thinks he's the best athlete on the court and he's not. Sooooo many fumbled balls and stupid shots.

Ragland could get to the hole and it seemed he was hesitant to do so... DWill wasn't awful, but man he takes some curious shots at times.

Stutz... I don't get it. His 'want to' is broke. A 5' 11 kid can keep him from scoring.

Blair got 'manned' tonight. Not sure what was up.

I thought HCGM acted like an idiot trying to get the crowd more into it... there were some very loud moments tonight. (there were even times like he was staring down the crowd near the bench, IDK) My biggest complaint with that freaking crowd (which includes me) is the ritual to start each half. Why in the hell do we yell like crazy and then as soon as they score, we sit down with our popcorn? It's just idiotic and I wish I had the power to change that.

Oh well. It was a lively atmosphere and my voice is fried (I did my best). I haven't seen the last call on DVR yet, but it sure looked like a bail out call. He had nothing in mind but trying to get a whistle and he got it. Really sucked to see another team celebrate on our court this season.

True that! However, we should be getting pretty use to it at this point.

Or maybe that was his way of connecting with the crowd by encouraging everyone to get up?

I saw what he did in the first half and I didnt take his actions as a slam against our fans. Of course I wired a bit different than most people from Wichita so it is what it is.

I agree with the 2 foul move on Ragland. It entirely changed the game when he went out. I know most coaches do it, but I think Marshall really over does it. Keeping guys out way too long. It's almost as if he makes 2 fouls as good as fouling out at half time. It was (and is) a dumb move on his part. IMO

                • There is absolutely no reason in hell for Murry to ever be in a game within 10 points, and less than 10 minutes left. I'm tired of it, and it's starting to piss me off to no end.

Rodriguez is the best point guard I've ever seen, or we just made him look that good.

After that halftime, I just can't get near as upset about this game as I normally would.

Even with the loss, today was great. Best crowd of the year by far, students obviously put in some effort. VCU actually played a fun style of basketball (in the first half, at least.) If Kyles shot had went in, this certainly would've been one of my most memorable games ever.

I didn't necessarily take it as a slam. It just seemed odd at the point becuase the crowd was into the game very well at that point.

                    • Maybe HCGM should spend his energy getting his team ready to play rather than saving it to "incite the crowd".

I was unable to attend tonight as I was at the baseball game with guests and then a dinner engagement.

I thought the crowd was fine, the "team" was not!

And it probably would have been the number one play on ESPN.

Geezus, if Marshall donated $100,000 to charity, some Shockernetter would gripe about it and say he only did it to show off and as a publicity stunt.

There was nothing negative about what he was doing AT ALL. He was simply engaging with the fan base. Sheesh.

Maybe we should change our name from the Shockers to the Iffers!

If you think that's a good thing.

Yeah, most guys don't foul out anyway.... all you really accomplished was keeping a hot hand on the bench while the other team smells blood. I have felt this way since Dean pulled Jordan early in the first half of the Indiana game in '84 (yeah, I'm that old). Completely gave IU the belief that they could win. I'm in the minority but if the guy is hot, you leave him in. But I'm not coaching D-I either. :)
