The crowd was fine and Marshall did not have to demand any involvement. The crowd was already doing fine when Marshall did his antics.
:good: And I saw numerous people around me act really PO'd with Marshall's antics. I guess if he cannot get his team to play inspired, then he feels the need to go after the crowd.
    Whatever dude.........

    • I am rapidly becoming immune to these losses. I expect them.

Like the players and the coaches, I have no answers.

I don't understand why it must happen consistently.....I am going to St. Louis, again, for the umpteenth time and I fully expect our team to lose.

Maybe the team thinks just like I do. We seem to look for a way to lose and aren't interested in winning, just trying not to lose, which will get you beat every time.

Prayers and well wishes to the lady that was taken out on a stretcher. She appeared to be in a tough state. God bless her.

Based on our history in St. Louis it isn't logical to expect us to win the Tournament.

OTOH, I never expected this team to lose 4 home games. So maybe this will be our year in St. Louis.

That's a nice thought, but no flipping way. We aren't tough enough, disciplined enough, prepared enough, smart enough or lucky enough to win 3 games in 3 days.

It is what it is. Tragic.

            Some thoughts...
I'm not sure why every coach pulls a guy with 2 fouls in the first half, I guess it's the thing to do, but Ragland going out really hurt.

Murry is just awful at home. He thinks he's faster than he is and he thinks he's the best athlete on the court and he's not. Sooooo many fumbled balls and stupid shots.

Ragland could get to the hole and it seemed he was hesitant to do so... DWill wasn't awful, but man he takes some curious shots at times.

Stutz... I don't get it. His 'want to' is broke. A 5' 11 kid can keep him from scoring.

Blair got 'manned' tonight. Not sure what was up.

I thought HCGM acted like an idiot trying to get the crowd more into it... there were some very loud moments tonight. (there were even times like he was staring down the crowd near the bench, IDK) My biggest complaint with that freaking crowd (which includes me) is the ritual to start each half. Why in the hell do we yell like crazy and then as soon as they score, we sit down with our popcorn? It's just idiotic and I wish I had the power to change that.

Oh well. It was a lively atmosphere and my voice is fried (I did my best). I haven't seen the last call on DVR yet, but it sure looked like a bail out call. He had nothing in mind but trying to get a whistle and he got it. Really sucked to see another team celebrate on our court this season.
I agree too...they score...we sit down...eff that crap we need to keep it going more...but at the important time when we tried to make runs...and when we were down by 2 for like 5 minutes and couldnt grab our ass with both hands..I think the crowd was great ...then deflated then great again..I dont know Im very very frustrated and about to say to the hell with a trip to St. Louis...Murray frustrates me....and Ill say it again...open cournt with room....hes ok...then he needs to at the opportune time to back into his defender cut the distance so he has no room to react to his move and hes money most times because of his lenght...but one on one and running at a guy....fooorrgett about it. Even a couple times he drove in from the base line all it would of taken was a strong fake and then he has the foul and maybe a bucket as well......frustrating that we continue to not play to our players strengths and instead try to be highlight machines. He had some good drives to the bucket but only when he can get his guy on his heels so that TM can swerve him for lack of a better term......Thanks for the BD boys....ill go see if Crown Royal has a better gift for me
1/16/2010 on the "Screw at the Q" HCGM... " Ive never seen a foul parade like that...If you would of let me know it was going to be a foul parade I would of brought a different team" .... "dont talk to me about fouls....Ive got to go back and look at some tape... I have some thoughts but I need to look at the tape and then I will have something very strong to say"

            • Eh, this loss means nothing. We were never a good team and we really never had a realistic shot at an at-large bid to the tournament. Our shoddy OOC scheduling (Nicolls State? Chicago State? Come on), our stupid losses (SIU + 4 home losses) and coming up short in our biggest games on the schedule (UCONN) combined to be a huge cliff we could never climb. Not realistically anyway. Our sole chance was, and will continue to be, the Valley tournament. But everyone here has already written that off, so we might as well pack it in, offer Perry Ellis a car and hope 2012-13 is our season.

/I'm not serious about the car thing.

              /or am I?

Lunardi had us IN today as an at large team. I really do believe if he had won out the regular season we were a shoe in for an at large.

If we had won our last 3 regular season games and the first 2 games in St. Louis our rpi would improve to the high 20s. That along with a Valley regular season title, and at that point about 4 or 5 top 100 wins and probably 1 top 50 win and a great road record would be more than enough.

Losing tonight on national TV to a struggling VCU team in the BB elimination game was enough in my opinion to burst our bubble.

At least the committee will see it that way.

                • Win in St Lou or enjoy another stay in the NIT...

Winning the Reg. season would be nice and I hope we do it, but if we want to go enjoy being a 12 seed, gotta win the tourney.

I agree 100% about the half-time surprise... it sure made me keep things in perspective as I walked away from Koch arena.

                    • Just got home. Dinner with my wife had a bitter taste to it. Had nothing to do with my wife.

Am I the only one that thought not full-court pressing with 4.5 seconds was a huge error on the coaching staff. Not that our press caused major turnovers tonight, but delaying the forward progress and forcing even one pass would have more than likely ended the game with a fruitless heave from luckyland at best. Number 12 would have never been in the lane with any reasonable full court pressure. This one is on HCGM and his staff, not any call an official made with under a second on the clock. It should have never have gone that far IMO.

                      • I'm not going to quote all the crowd bs to respond to it. But those critical of the crowd can stay home Wednesday. It was loud. The students were great. Whistles could not be heard & I heard from those watching tv that the announcers were drowned out. Go ***** at your wife, your dog or whatever you have in your negative lives.
Behind the opposite goal, I could tell nothing about the call. But a questionable call should never be called in that situation.

The pregame routine or something needs changed. what makes everyone frustrated is that this team could do so much. But no team can continue to spot their opponent.
The team needs a star. It is deepam but when a basket is really needed, it seems as everyone touches the ball & passes back out to the perimeter for a bad shot. Someone please have a desire to take over.
That player could be #20. To get off a shot with .4, that thing about went in.

                        • They just showed another camera angle of that last second shot by Kyles that barely missed. It looks like he almost stepped out of bounds when he shot the ball. If he would have made the basket, we would have had to deal with two contraversies. One being whether he got the shot off in time, and the other being whether he was on the out of bound line.

Please see shoxlax's thread on not letting #12 get the ball. You are not alone.

                            • You can't just pin it on the last minute or few seconds. We simply had way too many brain fart possessions tonight where we didn't get a decent shot, and not because of VCU's defense.

Despite the absolute gut-stabbing ending, this game I'm sure made for good TV on ESPN2. Gotta get three in STL!

Absolutely right ShockBand. However, once we had the lead with 4.9 left, it was that last "stinker" of letting Rodriguez receive the inbounds that will leave a lingering aroma.
