If we meet M-BC in the NCAA post season tournament, I suggest we put Aaron Ellis on #2, J. Greene.
By the way, Greene played 40 minutes.

That was a fun game.
I was worried when BMC got up 9-2 but WSU didn't sweat and ran off 7 straight points and got the crowd into it. I thought the crowd was great tonight.
That 3rd grader from MBC was nailing some insane shots from well beyond NBA range, I'm just suprised his coach is okay with letting him take that deep of a three.
Where the hell was the student section tonight? Paaaathetic showing. I know students that are on SN are great fans but you might want to smack some of your peers upside the head next time you see them and tell them to fill that top part up.
I'm feeling WAY more optimistic after tonights game then I did a few games ago. This team is def coming together quicker than I thought they would.

For the record:
Matt - 3.7assists/2.7 turnovers
Gal - 3.6assists/2.7 turnovers
PJ - 2.7assists/2.7 turnovers
Not saying that Gal is playing all around better than Matt because that definately isn't the case. But lets not act like Gal is the only "turnover machine" on the team. Give credit where credit is due, but also be fair with the criticism. Also Gal is a sophmore while the other 2 are seniors.
Again, not making excuses cause I bang my head over some of Gal's turnovers and play as anyone, but his overall play isn't exactly HORRIBLE all the time. The one biggest difference I would say between the 2 seniors and Gal is defense. He has improved over last year, but to me that is where Gal needs to continue to get better."He called me around noon and was thrilled," Brandt said. Great game.
No complaints really.
Im kind of stupified as to why we spread the offense so much instead of pounding inside.
Alot of crappy calls both ways.
Gal did make some bad passes tonight. The only time im willing to admit it though. 9/10 times hes throwing it to somebody with stonehands.
5 freaking players in double figures is awesome.
6 1/2 minutes left and people start leaving.
1 1/2 more people start leaving.
YOU PEOPLE SUCK.
Durley is that guy.
And those 2 kids from UMBC simply could not miss.

Officiating was bad again. Lots of uncalled travels. Gal go by with a couple of obvious ones. With about 3 min to go in the first half, we have 4 team fouls, they have 2. The zebras musta huddled at halftime..... Just call the game in the first half and you won't hafta try to contain the war that is inevitable in the second half. Must be harder than it looks.........:)

I always hated when at the end of a tight game, Turgeon would call time out with the shot clock winding down to "design" a play, only to have a single player dribble until the last second, then fire up an errant 3-ball, and leave me to wonder "This is all we could come up with!". When Marshall called the time out in a similar situation last night I said to my buddy "Let's see if we can do better than last year". Before I could even turn and get totally focused back on the court, Durley fires up about a 25 footer. SWISH! I guess now I know Marshall will be much better in these game time coaching situations.

Solid win for the Shocks. Great prep for conference play. I'm getting anxious for the UMKC game, but one at a time ...

Stuff:
1. Sometimes, to get folks' attention, you have to sit them down. You carry, you sit.
2. Now for the starting line-up for the Wichita State Shockers - Thomasson, Clemente, Durley, Cousinard and Braeuer. Due to pig headedness, Mekel will be sitting for awhile.
3. I am pretty sure the first half last night was the best the Shockers have played this year. They may have played about as well as they can play.
4. If Ellis and/or Griskenas can get their offense going, then the Shockers have a shot at a nice season, despite the 5 weakness.
5. Players have to adjust to the officials. It is true, whether you are talking about wide strikes or palming the ball. Most refs have hot buttons of one kind or another.
Coach Parcells had a standard practice of monitoring all of the officiating crews in the NFL to learn of their hot buttons. Before each game, Coach Parcells briefed the players on the hot buttons of game officials. Coach Parcells would not put up with dumb fouls.
Last night, I might give 2 ut-ohs to Gal on the palming calls. On the third, Gal was being pig headed. All players know the difference between carrying and not carrying. Of course, players want to push the envelop as much as possible to gain advantage over the defender.
6. I thought the switching on ball screens, when Greene was the offensive player, left something to be desired.
7. When a player is hot, I believe the defender should get right in the face of the offensive player and stay there, even if he has to give up a little on help defense. Of course, I ain't no coach. I am still mystified that a 5-6 player could get off 8 three ball shots against us.
8. I thought Wendell gave us 13 nice minutes last night.
9. Bench scoring in recent years was usually in the 15-20 points per game range. Last night, the bench scored 20 points. Thanks to JT. If we could just get Griskenas and Ellis going ....
10. Last night on the post game show, some irate caller asked Coach Jans why Griskenas continues to play, when he is such a poor shooter. Coach Jans reply was the same as what Coach Marshall has been saying for months. He said Griskenas is a very fine 3 ball shooter everyday in practice. He said Griskenas just has a confidence problem right now.
I hope Coach runs some sets for Mantas so he can shoot the 3 ball from his favorite spot on the floor. The Shockers really needed him.
When Mantas made the block last night, it was at the basket at my end of the court. The offensive player had a shocked look on his face. It was as if, he could not believe Mantas could get that far off the floor.
11. Despite Gal's problems, the Shockers only had 13 turnovers and 15 personal fouls. This kind of play makes my eyes glisten.

Griskenas needs to find a way to get the shot off within the flow of the offense to get his confidence going. It's not like he should feel he has to score 40 points a game, just take the good shot when it presents itself. Case in point: Wendell Preadom, who supposedly has a good shot but only in practice and warm up. Well, last night he gets a 3 ball within the framework of the offense and nails it. Later he seemed confident when he drove the ball to the basket against a defender. I hope he takes it one game and one shot at a time, and I think it'll fall into place.
Who on here would've imagined PT shooting as many 3 balls as he has? All within the framework of the offense - they seem to be going in. Get Mantas running to a spot on the floor to take a shot and I bet it goes in - same with Ellis.

I got railed on this board for suggesting Mekel benched. That was during Game 1 of the season. Now you are all tooting my horn. Hell, Royal Shock almost booted me for similar comments. Why aren't you threatening these people like you did me? Oh, because they are right in their opinions. Just like I was 3 weeks ago.
Anyways, benching Mekel is the best thing that can happen to him. The sad part is that his defense is worse than his ball handling. How is that even possible?
