No mention of Standiford while including PJ Forbes and Andy Sawyers could be interpreted as a bit of a slight.
Lutz failed to mention that Hooper is of impeccable character.

No past, present or future baggage. No more waiting for the shoe to drop....again.

Bob Lutz admits he doesn't know much about college baseball, but he did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

He has to write about something. Since he is a columnist and not a journalist knoweldge of the subject matter is not required since all you are really doing is throwing out opinions. Very much like Shockernet except he is the only member.

Wish he'd go live in St Louis since he's addicted to the Cardinals

If Lutz recommends someone then they probably aren't a good choice.

                • Per another Lutz's twitter. Jim Leyland has reached out to Eric Sexton vouching for Kevin Hooper.

Among Kevin Hooper's advocates who have reached out to Eric Sexton is Tigers manager Jim Leyland. Thinking that carries some weight.

Hooper got about 10 or so at-bats for Leyland eight years ago and Leyland, a legend, is going to bat for him. To me, that says it all.

We have to wait until Brad Hill is finished coaching the cats in the tourney first! Which should be this weekend by the way. I expect an announcement next tue or wed introducing him as our next coach. :cheerful:

                    • You guys project Brad to lose at Oregon State and then want him as your head coach.......... :banghead:

I thought you guys are elite enough that you only hire National Championship Coaches now......:tiger:

                      • I have a bad feeling this hire has already been done and WSU isn't getting a quality college candidate. Sexton is going to take the easy way out. I hope I'm wrong. Keeping BK tells me they are going to hire someone without much experience. It worked for WSU hiring Gene but he was an assistant at a very good college program and it could work again but isn't the WSU program worth more than taking chances? Please hire a guy that has done all the things required at the college level.

Anyone in their right mind would want Brad Hill but Brad Hill would be stupid to take this job. He now has the dominant program in the state which seems impossible. He honestly has one of the best programs in the Big 12 so him dropping levels to come to WSU and the MVC is ridiculous. On top of that you then force Brad to take our PC. Forget tradition, it's about where the programs are at right now. I don't think Brad would waste his time rebuilding a program. All he's lacking is a plush stadium. He'll get it.

We almost HAVE to have the next guy already verbaled. Otherwise the BK thing makes no sense. With Hill's season still continuing, no way has he committed to WSU.

No verbal yet; Sexton (I’ll guarantee you Bardo is also in the loop) has a lengthy list of potential candidates. I’m very confident that thorough homework has been done the past 2-3 years leading up to this day. “Failure to prepare is preparing to fail.”

Hill = Zero chance of being the next WSU coach

In a nut shell, I believe there was serious concern about a ‘mass exodus’ if nobody from the current staff was retained.
