It's a fair question. It's going to be a tough pill to swallow to watch the dugout call the game.

Is the 2024 baseball roster that is listed on goshockers.com correct? They have Tolle, Rodden, and Herring still on there but I haven't heard they are coming back. Anyone else on the roster not committed to coming back?

Talked about policy of what they told signees and guys in the portal. All sounded Kosher.

Likes early returns from Green.

Said a lot of the portal deflections had to do with “what went on this past fall until December and stuff this spring that the general public doesn’t hear about.”

(TBH I have always thought Wedge’s issues are not talked enough about on here. That’s obviously a part of this.)

Talked about Pelfs interview with Shane. Said a lot of the last years student athletes are “fatigued with shocker baseball” and he needed to do something about it.

His moves to date have left a lot to be desired on paper. They've generated little to no excitement.

I'm done getting too excited about anything Saal says until positive results are seen. You can talk all you want and say all the right things, but if his lackluster hires turn into lackluster results, a golden tongue gets you nowhere.

I took it to mean a combination of Wedge’s issues, his suspension, then his firing, Hibb’s lockeroom culture, then another new coach - All just piling up.

I don't like to "hammer" anyone when they are down, but this program was headed in the right direction several years ago, and I think we would be a lot farther than we currently are had we been able to stay on the same path. EW had it going the right way, but his demons, and the stress/anxiety (whichever the cause was), was just too much for him. I hope he gets things turned around, but the program is certainly feeling the effects.

All interesting comments, I went out to watch a sunflower/jayhawk league game the other evening to get my baseball fix in, and happened to run into a father of one of our players and he was very open with me after awhile. Much of what he said mirrors the above comments.

• Saal was very transparent with players and families after decision was made.
• Hibbs lost the locker room pretty early on, he believed the players thought Siri would succeed EW as interim
• Hibbs would barely speak to most players in the facility and players felt like he was more concerned with keeping the job than winning games
• Player leadership was much better than previous years
• Program operates on a shoestring budget - these kids have friends at every level, and know what other programs do for their players.
• WSU Basketball > WSU Baseball in schools eyes
• Very little of any player development went on.
• Concurred with the previous comments that most of the players that decided to leave had already made the decision to leave based on the last 8 months and that most would have left in December, but there where no D1 opportunities to be had as virtually every team had their rosters set and player meetings completed

With that said, he was very optimistic about the future.

Not to be a complete smartass, but find me one school where this isn’t the case.
