I keep hearing the words “accountability” and “integrity”. If you truly have those, how do you lose a kid like Tolle??
Because of wsu can’t compete with the P5 in $$$ and opportunity.

And like JJ said, if u are going to get a new coach, u might as well take the $$ and go with somebody who has a proven track record to get pitchers to the next level.

    • Better pull off the Baseball Expressway, if you can't pay the Tolle.

      • With the pathetic NIL opportunity that Wichita State offers it will end up being the equivalent of a four year JUCO feeder program for the power 5 schools.

In the future if the Shox are fortunate enough to land a few good players that have outstanding seasons, in swoop the P5 programs flush with cash and they are gone.

        • Sounds like all but P5 schools should stop even fielding athletic programs

I think that is the NCAA's and P5 goal.

            • NIl is going to see some drastic changes in the next few years. It is a wild west and the NCAA is losing a lot of fans/customers from not just non-power 5 teams. The majority of people do not want to follow a team year by year where they can't relate, connect, or even know who is playing for them. The constant portal jumping and under the table $$ is ruining what was left of college athletics.

So I assume ORU will be decimated after this year and will be a middling Summit League team next year?

                ... No really, deuces.

                  Kind of where I am.

I get the overall negative attitude, like really I do. However, If you can get a somewhat stable program / coach / winning culture, some of this takes care of itself.

Our portal trouble in basketball and baseball goes much deeper than NIL problems, although certainly that compounds it. And we will always lose some guys - MOST teams will lose guys. OU just lost its ace starting softball pitcher after winning back-to-back nattys. It will happen, but should not be happening at this rate.

I really believe Wichita State has BIG advantages vs. other schools just outside of the P5 - we just have to get the right people in place.

No idea if we have the right people there now, and I certainly am no fan of the Green hire - but I think the general negatively is a little more apocalyptic than where reality resides. Hoping that isn't my general positivity talking.

I don't disagree with it being the wild, wild west but not sure we can expect the NCAA to do anything about it.

In this day and age it may well happen. Who knows?

As long as the broadcast media is willing to pay the huge bucks for the P-5 Football and Basketball + the Big East Basketball I think the NCAA and those schools will do fine.

IMO, the financial pain will be the felt by the have not institutions more than by the NCAA. And yeah, maybe the NCAA loses some members from the have nots but not sure that will be enough to budge the NCAA.

At this point college athletics is currently ruled by the almighty dollar via the media class and the donor class.

Politics have already gotten involved. The NCAA is legally unable to punish certain schools in some states for anything related to NIL.

NCAA is pretty toothless at this point. Any attempt at punishment will end up in court and likely be a L for the NCAA

                            • The ncaa has devolved into the acronym NIL to mean Named In Lawsuit which they ultimately end up on the losing end.

Which is why they're pushing for Congress to come up with rules and regulations on it. The current draft in DC seems interesting
