If you want baseball to continue to wallow in mediocrity, that is definitely the way to go. Last night was a team that was not prepared mentally to play - that falls on Hibbs. He is ready to retire. The players are ready to transfer someplace and get their NIL $.
Whatever coach you hire, you make a commitment.
Sounds like you're arguing he's plain ready to retire. While that may be true, that's outside this discussion.

If ADKS decides Scooter is not the guy to the lead the program forward and if he hired either Mike Sirianni or a Shocker legacy, such as Kevin Hooper, it is possible that Scooter could just revert to his previous role if that is mutually acceptable to Scooter and the new coach. The might even work with a non-legacy hire.
But the bottom line is we need to find the best man possible for the job. Our track record replacing Gene, whether from outside the family or inside the family, has not been good at all. But with FADDB making those decisions perhaps that is not all that surprising.
With all that said I think Scooter generally did a good job in difficult circumstances this year. The problem I am having is trying to reconcile the team performance/results with the fact that the Shockers had the most first team AAC All-Conference selections including a middle infielder who was the AAC POY, an outfielder who was basically tied for the league batting title with the POY, 2 pitchers, 1 of whom led the league in ERA, and a 2-way player who is up for John Olerud 2-Way Award plus a relief pitcher and an outfielder who made 2nd team All-Conference and a relief pitcher and a infielder who made the All-Freshman team.
The Shocks came out yesterday to open play in the AAC Tournament with a fantastic opportunity with the top 2 seeds having already lost and they looked totally flat and unfocused with perhaps the exception of Brock Rodden. If the Shockers lose today they will head to the off-season with their tails between their legs sporting a rather pedestrian record of 30.25 despite their massive haul of post-season honors. The program has totally lost the swagger it had at its peak. The question is how do you get that back, or is it even possible in today's environment.
However, if Scooter can somehow rally this team to somehow come back and win this AAC Tournament then ADKS would hard pressed to stay with Scooter. However, that seems to be a pretty remote possibility at this point.Last edited by 1972Shocker; May 24, 2023, 03:59 PM.

Like yesterday, there will be rain around, it's just a matter of where and when. The ECU game is moving right along in the 4th already, we could play around 6 CDT if the weather holds. It's mostly sunny but storms all around, especially to the east right now. Hope like heck we don't have to play into tomorrow like we did yesterday/today.

The CIN-ECU game is shaping up to be another crazy one, at least to this point.
ECU scored 2 in the first on 1 base hit, a single. Actually, that was a pretty good outcome for CIN considering the inning included, in addition to the 1 single, 3 walks, a stolen base and 4 wild pitches.
CIN pulled even in the top of the 3rd with a 2-run home run. ECU responded in the bottom of the inning with 3 runs on 4 hits, a walk, a hit by pitch and an error but left the bases loaded.
In the top of the 4th CIN loaded the bases 2 singles to left and an infield single with not outs. ECU promptly escaped that jam by giving up a grand slam home run. CIN leads 6-5 heading into the bottom of the 4th.
At this rate were looking at a 4 hour game. Meaning the Shocks would play around 7 pm.

The CIN-ECU game is now in a weather delay.
WuDrWu 's hopes of not playing today's game into tomorrow are in serious peril.
Those were some dark clouds but were moving away according to the announcers. But the wind was howling out to right. The CIN grand slam was by a right handed hitter who elevated on up into the jet stream, which carried it out.
The did put the tarp on the field in the middle of the 4th. Had not started raining yet that I could tell so they must have been anticipating rain moving in.
Radar doesn't look too bad. Looks to be moving off to the east.Last edited by 1972Shocker; May 24, 2023, 05:23 PM.

The heavens opened here and it was a long soak. It let up and there was a thought of restarting when just a couple of minutes ago it started to pour again. I've been told that a decision on OUR game at 730 local time. So in 15 or so minutes I expect they will say we're going to play tomorrow morning. It really is the only answer. The kids need to eat at some point and you just can't sit around and warm up again and again.
