After 5 innings the Shocks trail Houston 0-3. The Shocks have only 1 hit, a first inning single by Brock Rodden who was promptly erased when Garrett Pennington roped a line drive right at the shortstop who was able to just nip Brock scrambling back to first. Brock only took two steps but just couldn't go in reverse quick enough to get back. Other than that the Shocks have drawn 4 walks.
Payton Tolle went the first 3 innings giving up 2 runs. After giving up a ground ball single off of Jack Little's glove into left field Tolle tried a quick pick move and threw wildly to move the runner to 2nd base. At that point HCLH came out with the hook and brought in Robert Cranz. Not sure what the thinking was there. Seems like a quick hook. Perhaps Scooter is thinking he is going to have go Johnny Wholestaff to have any chance of winning this tournament and won't be extending any of his pitchers for a couple of games (if the Shocks get that far). Cranz got through the 4th but gave up a run in the 5th.

In a scenario in which Hibbs decides he wants to move back to more of a DOBO roll: Is there money to go outside of our current staff, in an attempt to hire a successful head coach at a mid-major and bring him to Wichita?
I like our current staff, played for Sirianni, and they’ve done a great job this year. However, there are a number of other very good college baseball coaches in this country, who don’t have WSU ties, but are very good at what they do.

After 7 innings Houston still leads 3-0. Shocks still with only 1 hit. Brock Rodden saved a run in the bottom of the 7th with an outstanding defensive play on a slow hit excuse ball that he had to barehand and throw in the same motion to just nip the batter at first (with a runner on 3rd) for the final out of the 7th.
