If this is a simple evaluation of Gene's end-of-season review, why would the university attorney need to be present? Unless things are not expected to go well. Not sure if this is normal policy or not--someone more in the know could elaborate.

I am not torn. I hope they keep HCGS but sign him to a 5 year extension at a mush lower yearly rate with incentives for MVC championship, NCAA regional, super and CWS appearances. Now if he doesn't accept a lower salary then we get another head coach and hope for the best (not an OkSU experience). The program is Gene Stephenson's to run into the groound. If it does not hit bottom who would want a job where the coach made the NCAA tourney, won 38 games and that was not good enough. That would be some pressure to step into.Originally posted by WuDrWu View PostBeing where I am....it's very difficult to argue with this logic.
2. Satisfaction with thirty-eight wins for five years in a row? I can argue with that.
3. Declining attendance for five years in a row? I can argue with that.
4. Declining recruitment effectiveness for five years in a row? I can argue with that.
5. A new coach, who wants to avoid job pressure? I can argue with that.
Some will say I am being snarky, but I do not intend to be so.
Resistance to change is hard sometimes, even when the organization is stuck in neutral.
To not make any changes except contract extension and remuneration and expect program improvement seems unrealistic to me."Prediction is very difficult, especially if it is about the future."

@Ricardo del Rio:, I guess the point I was trying to make (and obviously failed doing) is that I can't argue with those that, emotionally speaking, say the program is Gene's to do with what he wants on his terms. That I understand that loyalty. And I can't argue against the loyalty. Like you, I do disagree, but I can't tell someone that's been a fan for 36 years that their loyalty to the man that built the program, literally, from the ground up is less important than my desires.
Yes, I want a change. I just can't tell those fans they are wrong.

"I figured this was our chance to get to OU," said Kemnitz, who has been Stephenson's top assistant for 30 years. "I was pretty pumped for it.
