No matter how HCGS ends his WSU tenure, barring something abysmal, the place should be renamed Gene Stephenson Park/Field/Stadium, with the Eck Stadium/Tyler Field moniker being dropped. If those names need to be kept on something, find it elsewhere in the facility. If it ends by termination or not renewing the contract, the renaming might want to wait a couple of years to allow some cooling off time. If he chooses to retire with dignity, the renaming could be at the last regular season home game.

I wonder if Augie is getting any comparable heat in Austin at this point -- probably not, but who knows; maybe we can get a report from some Texan in our crew? Today his club clinched the ninth and last seed in this year's Big 12-3=9 standings, making them the only team in the league that won't qualify for their tournament. K-State is in -- leads the league, in fact -- KWho is in, West F Virginia is in(!), and Texas is not. That's not the kind of thing that will sit well with the world's most entitled baseball fans, especially considering that Texas also missed the NCAA field last year. Ouch and more ouch.

Not anything you guys haven't read In Wichita, but there was an article in the Omaha rag today about the Stephenson Situation. Nothing new, just an outside perspective.

Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

Quote from Servais says it all
Creighton won two of three games at Wichita State last week, and coach Ed Servais said the atmosphere at Eck Stadium — which Stephenson’s fund-raising helped build — was unlike any he’s experienced in his previous trips there.
“There was no one there,’’ Servais said.
