And also SMDH, violently.
Baseball in particular was one of the worst, if not the worst, collegiate sports for managing a roster. Now with the ease of transferring and the NIL arms race it is worse than it has ever been.

Cameron had an okay year. He was outstanding over the first 2/3rds of the season with a 0.61 ERA over 44 innings. However, Cameron struggled quite a bit down the stretch with an ERA of 9.78 in 23 innings over his final 6 starts.
Not exactly sure what the mechanics are for the selection of these award winners but for my money I would have picked Shocker hammer and javelin throwers, Michael Bryan and Taran Taylor, as my co-winners of this category.

Updated stats as of July 5th (in red if worse, in green if better) for Shocker players in the Northwoods League vs 2 weeks ago:
Some early stats from the Northwoods League:
Position Players:
Xavier Caserrilla (La Crosse Loggers): .258 BA (8-31); .817 OPS | .174 BA (12-69); .559 OPS - Xavier trying to make us feel better about him entering the portal
Kyte McDonald (Fon Du Lac Spiders): .184 BA (9-49); .639 OPS | .235 BA (19-81); .795 OPS
Seth Stroh (Wisconsin Rapid Rafters): .097 BA (3-31); .394 OPS | .203 BA (14-69); .715 OPS
Gage Williams (Kenosha Kingfish): .077 BA (2-26; .365 OPS | .215 BA (14-65); .612 OPS
Pitchers:
Caden Favors (Wisconsin Rapid Rafters): 3.38 ERA over 8 innings; 0.88 WHIP; 4K/2BB | 2.40 ERA over 15 innings; 0.80 WHIP; 15K/3BB
Clark Candiotti (Kenosha Kingfish): 0.82 ERA over 22 innings; 0.95 WHIP; 21K/6BB | 2.75 ERA over 36 innings; 1.39 WHIP; 39K/13BB
Matt Wilkinson (Willmar Stingers): 7.45 ERA over 9.2 innings; 1.03 WHIP; 13K/7BB/5HBP | 6.35 ERA over 11.1 innings; 1.24 WHIP; 15K/9BB/5HBP
All the position players have picked it up offensively after very slow starts with the exception of Casserrilla and I guess we don't care at this point other than maybe we don't feel quite as bad that he has chosen to move on. A blessing in disguise maybe.
Caden Favors' and Clark Candiotti's numbers look pretty solid. Candiotti has fallen off from his hot start but his numbers are still good. His has the most innings pitched on the Kingfish staff.
Matt Wilkinson has only pitched 1.2 inning in the last two weeks. He has only allowed 5 hits in 11.1 innings but he pays for the walks and hit batters.

Several of the guys have left their summer assignments. Clearly summer ball isn't what it used to be.
Also added a commitment from transfer Sayer Diederich. Most recently at Southern Nevada. Spent 2 years at Nebraska with minimal stats. He may have been injured at NU because after Covid 20 and then 21 he was listed as a Freshman this spring at SN. We'll see.

Updated stats as of July 6th (in red if worse, in green if better) for Shocker players in the California Collegiate League vs 2 weeks ago:
Position Players:
Jordan Rogers (Arroyo Seco Saints): .188 BA (3-16); .722 OPS | .189 BA (7-37); .664 OPS
Cooper Harris (Arroyo Seco Saints); .091 BA (1-11); .503 OPS | .207 BA (6-29); .730 OPS
Pitchers:
Robert Cranz (Santa Barbara Foresters): 7.10 ERA over 6.1 innings; 1.74 WHIP; 10K / 4BB | 4.11 ERA over 15.1 innings; 1.32 WHIP; 21K / 9BB
Payton Tolle (Santa Barbara Foresters); 5.40 ERA over 5.0 innings; 1.41 WHIP; 4K / 3 BB | 2.91 ERA over 21.2 innings; 1.25 WHIP; 19K / 6 BB
I like the trend the stats show for Cranz and Tolle. Cranz needs to cut down on his walks a little. Both guys have pitched in 4 games. Cranz was the starter in 3 of his 4 appearances and Tolle started in all 4 of his appearances.
