If not doing enough, fast enough, has cost a university president his job, what should be asked of the student body president for spreading a rumor he didn't take the time nor effort to substantiate? I think an equally measured response would be for him to step down and perhaps even withdraw from school.

I think there very well could be a Mizzou diaspora. Every college in the state could see a windfall in enrollment as a result. The whole thing with the group of activists is just a real shame though. They have real grievances, but it seems they have been hijacked by a radical few that are pushing a different agenda. I was telling one of my coworkers yesterday that I think the Michael Brown situation set racial relations in this state back several decades. Both sides are just so radical and it is difficult to have a civil discussion on the relevant discussion points. And there are many. So very frustrating.

Made national news for a bit. The difference is that Cliff knew the climate on campus and reached out right away to minority groups. In Columbia, you have a businessman as president of the system and the chancellor seems to be more interested in tweeting at women's soccer matches and writing books about how he got A&M in the SEC than keeping his eye on the task at hand. They got caught napping.

The most outrageous thing was the clip I saw on CBS where the professors were assisting the activists in pushing journalists out of the 'no media' area.
That was flat wrong and totally inappropriate for the professors to do that. They are leaders on campus and they need to make sure that the leadership is appropriate and sets a good example for students. Their behavior did neither. One journalism expert thought the art professor, who was an adjunct to the journalism department should have lost her job.
If she doesn't lose her job, I think she damn well better keep away from the journalism department. What she did goes against every tenant of journalism and a free press.

Now you stick to that, and everything else is cream cheese.

They finally released a redacted version of the police report where an officer recounts seeing the swastika. Now the questions are, who did it and what was their motivation? I still think this was most likely a false flag, but who knows.

Again, I can not see where this young man is was gaining anything, especially the part of his letter where it says it happened for the last four years running. I also understand a person has the right to be skeptical, but you're making excuses here.

There are as of yet no facts as to who did it or what their motivation was. So if I'm giving excuses, so are you. I find it silly that you think someone drawing a symbol using their own feces is supporting what that symbol stands for. Using feces is a sign of desecration, not support. But again, I'll allow for the possibility of a stupid college student doing something stupid and ignorant. But for now, what little facts are out there isn't enough for me to believe that it was a sincere gesture.

I said nothing about the person who wrote the letter you're referring to except that it didn't constitute evidence of a poop swastika. My references to motivation had nothing to do with who wrote that letter and everything to do with, assuming this wasn't a hoax, who did it and why. And by "it", I mean the swastika, NOT the letter. Why do you find that concept so difficult to grasp? In fact, I'll even link to the only post where I mention the letter, in response to you posting it. Two brief sentences, and none of it related to the author of the letter.

I think if you applied a little logic to this, you'd see that the kid who wrote the letter had a lot more to lose and a lot less to gain by writing it. That would mean that there's a ring of truth to what he's writing. As for the motivations of the person who did this, who knows? The fact that he used human waste to write his message could also be a perceived sign of contempt toward the Jewish community. The fact that the Jewish kid who wrote the letter said it happened each of the last 4 years kinda' throws a little cold water on your 'poor misguided dumb kid' schtick.
Once, a random incident - stupid kid. Every year for four years - someone with an axe to grind.
But I guess you aren't buying the part of the letter where it said it has happened every year for the last four years because it wasn't in the Federalist.
While I agree with you about the Shockers and Royals I definitely disagree with you on this. I think we need to agree to disagree on this one.
