In defense of the family, it really looks like they didn't want him to be fired/possibly have his career ruined. They could have gone straight to the national news media and made it a much bigger circus than it was. To me the guy just sounds like a concerned BGSU alum and wanted the coach to receive a talking to on what was appropriate and what's not from his boss.

The "concerned" alum and his family helped to escalate the situation.

If he called my daughter anything if take care of it myself right there. Not send my daughter back again to antagonize an intoxicated man while I video taped it.

I will admit that there's a part of me that feels like he got hosed a tiny bit. Not because I support what he did at all but because it just somehow feels like he got hunted down a little bit. I am just trying to put myself in the shoes of the people who went after him. If I saw a guy having a rough night with alcohol and I could tell he was a mess, would I really go ahead and take the video, email the AD and burn him? Or would I just walk over and threaten it to get him to stop. I don't think I would want to actually end a guys career, I'd maybe just want to embarass him in front of his friends or something.

I'm just feeling a little compassion over here.

He said to the daughter of the guy who had the video and who reported him to the AD, "come here, *****". Calling young woman a ***** in front of her father is pretty much a deal breaker.

That is not sexual assault...give me a break. If they wanted to press charges they would have tried to do so by now. Anything that happens now just looks like a money grab that is likely to be thrown out by a court

Tell you what big guy, get drunk and then go to your local mall or grocery store, walk up to a random young lady and pat her on the butt - tell me what happens.

It's inapproproate not sexual battery or assault "big guy". Plus that's a terrible comparison because he was already having a conversation with the lady.

Here's the complainant's description of the night:

Mr. Kingston,

My family and I were in downtown Bowling Green 3/21/15 at an establishment that is frequented by the Basketball coaches. While we were enjoying each others company we noticed on several occasions Chris Jans making what seemed to be advances towards several women. On one occasion he grabbed a woman’s head and pushed it downwards toward his crotch. A Single guy, drunk, we can possibly overlook, but certainly inappropriate for a Head Coach representing my university and most definitely not a married man with two children. I am certain she would not appreciate his behavior. As the night continued, we had hoped that the behavior was a fluke or a joke amongst friends ad we continued enjoying each others company until he made advances toward another female, petter her backside and proceeded to as/tell her to walk in front of him so that he could evaluate her assets. This was directly in front of our table and in front of my daughter who is a college athlete visiting her brother who attends BGSU on his birthday. She had witnessed the Coach throughout the evening, was disappointed and disgusted enough to actually confront him and tell him his behavior was not becoming of a head coach and she would be embarrassed if it were her coach. He denied being the coach and then after she continued he responded “ok”. She sat back with our table and we continued conversation hoping he would be mature enough to leave we enough alone, however minutes later he exclaimed loud enough to be heard over the loud music “*****, com here.” Unfortunately, I was forced to confront him, however he was quickly covered by assistant coaches and staff. We left the establishment without further confrontation, but clearly he was sloppy drunk and not fitting of BGSU representation. I am emailing you to let you deal with this matter as you feel fit, however if need I have a video of him from the evening touching a woman’s backside validating our statements, and further video showing the melee’ that ensued after he called my daughter a “*****”. We hope there will be no need have to divulge this video to social media for the sake of the university, but from our understanding from other patrons we have spoken to, this behavior has been consistent at this establishment. We expect you handle this matter in a fitting way that will ensure this behavior is never repeated.

I look forward to hearing how this will be addressed.

If I were Jans' lawyer, I would rip the everliving **** out of this.

While I'm sure what actually happened was not Jans' finest hour, and there are certain things he would take back if he could, I am equally certain that the above is not what actually happened, and no one here should be, either.

It's not that I disagree with the compassion part. Bowling Green actually went against the wishes of the people who reported the incident. They specifically said during the on-going communication that they didn't want Jans to be ruined. They almost pleaded with Bowling Green to go easy on Jans, and they stated those wishes repeatedly. Maybe they shouldn't have reported it at all, and maybe now they wish that they hadn't. On the other hand, Jans should mostly be blaming himself.

If I was a coach I would definitely subscribe to his scouting services. I don't know if that would be a viable business for him, but it just might be a good option to ride out his bad circumstances.

Actually, simply touching a woman without her consent can result in battery charges. Jans is on camera with a potential sexual battery conviction if the "patted" woman wants to press charges. That would get Jans on the sexual offender list for the rest of his life.
