I do not know you from Adam, but by the time I write my narration of your offensiveness I will have done my research and include facts about you that somehow make what you did more offensive to me back before I knew these facts. I will confront you when you have been drinking and collect video evidence of the exchange. Then, I will email your employer and offer to share the video tape.

I will admit that there's a part of me that feels like he got hosed a tiny bit. Not because I support what he did at all but because it just somehow feels like he got hunted down a little bit. I am just trying to put myself in the shoes of the people who went after him. If I saw a guy having a rough night with alcohol and I could tell he was a mess, would I really go ahead and take the video, email the AD and burn him? Or would I just walk over and threaten it to get him to stop. I don't think I would want to actually end a guys career, I'd maybe just want to embarass him in front of his friends or something.

I'm just feeling a little compassion over here.

While I'm sure what actually happened was not Jans' finest hour, and there are certain things he would take back if he could, I am equally certain that the above is not what actually happened, and no one here should be, either.

It does bug me that they include the implied threat that they will go public with the video if they don't see the university do something about it. Then when the university DOES do the most severe thing it possibly can do, somehow the video surfaces on the Internet. Funny how integrity works, isn't it? Or is this not an integrity issue, but a person that intended to go live with that video no matter what -- because -- maybe he had an agenda?

Total assclown way to close the communication out, to say nothing about the fact that it is a single gigantic freaking paragraph.

If you send me a long email without a single paragraph break, and end it with effectively "how are you going to dance for ME", I'm going to assume you are a TFM and likely discard the email without further thought.

Here's a thought (though I don't mean to judge...): If you're truly out with the family, "enjoying each other's company", PUT THE DAMNED CELL PHONES AWAY instead of trying to film "America's Funniest Drunk Basketball Coaches". Everyone thinks they're Steven Spielberg crossed with Chris Hansen.

I 100% support WSU hiring Jans on a 1-2 year contract, with stipulations that he must immediately enroll in a rehab program among others. If he fails to live up to this requirements then he is let go with no obligations to the university.
