I actually went, in place of my KSU nephew, who couldn't go...I think it WAS packed, because we were up high and there were no empties around us...as to the game, both defend REALLY hard, but shooting was pretty suspect..ESPECIALLY foul shooting.Like the Arena, as had not been in before. Both coaches are nuts.

WVU's best win until now was Akron and their best loss was Kent St. So I guess KSU is somewhere in between the two...which puts them a little better than where I thought they were.
I was not terribly impressed with either team except for effort, They both played hard. I had to be there as a basketball fan as I really did not much care who won. I just wanted to see some basketball and I guess I wanted to do my part to show the world (the NCAA Committee especially) that Wichita could support basketball at Intrust.
Amid all the groaning on this board about this game, I thought that if the NCAA was represented at the game, they would be impressed enough to recommend a tournament game in the near future in spite of the home team not being able to fill the arena. I sat around some fans who had come from West Virginia and they were very impressed as well.
I had just come from Tulsa which was no more than 2/3 full and probably 25% Shocker fans to a game in Intrust that was jammed to the rafters with loud fans. Our Shocks should always beat either of the teams I saw last night, but I have to give their fans credit for supporting their teams.

I think this was a great event for the city of Wichita, IBA, and college basketball in Wichita. I can only hope it helps more college events to come to IBA and also helps draw bigger opponents to IBA to play the Shockers. All the crying on this board about issues such as these really help to reinforce WSU fans as a bunch of whiners, poor losers, and ungracious winners. There are very important KU/KSU alumni in ict that could help make the in state games happen, but I know they can't stand dealing with the moaning our fan base typically does. It is as bad or worse than the "is WSU a division one school" fan base in NE ks.

The bottom line is that WSU plays around 18 games every year in Wichita, while KSU normally plays exactly 0. So when KSU does come to town and all the Wichita-based KSU fans and alumni can easily catch a game, it's going to sell a lot of tickets and the city will make a bigger deal about it.
People just need to chill a bit.The truth will set you free. But first, it will piss you off.

Renaming the street though is overboard. Not only is it simply a horrible idea, it costs taxpayers quite a bit of money. I don't have exact figures, but changing street signs isn't cheap. To do that for a school two hours away seems quite odd to me as well.
I don't care that they played here. I'm sure traveling fans spent plenty of money in Wichita which is always nice. I'm glad they had enough success that maybe they'll do it again and bring more outside dollars in to the area. I'm also kind of glad they lost. I've never had much love for KSU. I don't hate them, but they're at the bottom of the totem pole on teams I like.Infinity Art Glass - Fantastic local artist and Shocker fan

Exactly, people need to CHILL OUT!!!! I went to the game because our company had seats and I'm a basketball fan. It was AN AWESOME EVENT for the city of Wichita. The Atmosphere was amazing. Completely packed. The crowd was into it the entire game. Basically the last 5 minutes of regulation and during both overtimes, the lower bowl did not sit down. I am a WSU Grad and as big of WSU fan as you will find, however, I was proud to be a Wichitan last nights. I am sure Wichita got major props on National TV last night. Not many other games on and it was a great game to watch. I do not understand the bitterness that so many on this board have. Wichita State has a great team and great fans. I think the best in the state. Be proud of that and quit being so jealous about other teams. It's unbelievable!!!! I hope both KU and K-State play a game at Intrust every year. It is great for the arena, the city, old town, etc... Above anything else, it only increases the chances that Wichita will soon host a Men's NCAA 1st/2nd Round. Although I am sure some people on here would still be complaining when that happens. Chill out people. Love the Shox. I know I do. But stop the jealousy. It's ridiculous!!!

For years I have always felt the division one schools should play each other in basketball. Recently I have come to the state of mind that I really don't care if we never play one another unless its in the ncaa tournament. I really don't care what they do or where they do it. Let the arrogant pr___s do their own thing amongst their own. Its not that I have a "little brother complex" as others are so happy to diagnose I just don't give a damn about them anymore.

I have watched about half of the KSU games so far this year, but missed last nights. From what I have seen this year KSU runs a hack and brick offense. Shooting is horrid, and its a fun game to guess if KSU will have more fouls than made buckets. I was a pretty big Frank fan back in the day. He always spoke really highly of the state and conference. It seams that his star is fading pretty quickly.
Oh and WSU would obliterate KSU.
