Why Osborne has kept this guy around for as long as he has is beyond me! He has given him more time than any other coach would've received from his AD. First the excuse is: "Let's get him into the Big 10 and see what happens". Really? The Big 10 is arguably a better conference and at the very least a comparable one from top to bottom. The second excuse: "Let's get the arena built to aid his recruitment efforts". How much leash is that guy going to get?

Both of Osborne's reasons to keep Sadler are two that I could use as a reason to wipe the slate clean and get a fresh start.

Back on topic, I don't see GM taking a serious look at Lincoln.

He wouldn't even jokingly look at that job. Talk about a giant leap backwards

Illinois lost to Iowa today in the 1st round of the Big 10 tournament to finish at 17-14 (6-12 Big Ten). I expect this will be the end of the line for him. Not sure if Weber would be interested in returning to SIU or not sure what kind of compensation package SIU can put together.

Illinois is a good job, but I don't see it as one that would be a destination job for 3G.

Alabama ends South Carolina's season (10-21, 2-14 SEC) with a 63-57 win in the 1st round of the SEC Tournament. Also likely ends Darren Horn's tenure as head coach at South Carolina. This is an opening that would concern me vis-a-vis 3G.

Gregg Marshall, Wichita State:Marshall is very well-paid and WSU is a big-time program. He won't leave for anything other than the perfect fit.

Much as been written about HCGM and South Carolina - nothing tells me that it would meet the perfect fit criteria...

It may not, although I am not sure what 3G's perfect fit criteria are, but it is home. I do think that any move 3G does make, if he does make a move, will be in his mind his last move as a coach so I am sure he will be very deliberate.

There was some talk about Horn sticking around for another year, but the guy lost 15 out of their last 17 games, and ended the season with 6 straight losses.

I think we can all just assume Horn is gone.

That is what I am assuming. But I have been wrong many times before. We will see.

South Carolina certainly has impressive athletic facilities.

The basketball arena seats 18,000 and is the 10th largest on campus arena in the nation. The averaged 8,900 in attendance for their home games this year.

For most, Illinois has to be considered a premier job, yes?

Sagarin has Illinois as the 6th highest rated program in the last 72 years.

I've heard analysts say that Illinois is one of the top 20 jobs in the country.

I'd say Illinois is one of the premier jobs in the country. It's a tough sell to some coaches though. They have really high expectations there.
